Have had trouble with cups tasting like soap. Do these have any soap residue left behind after washing?

They shouldn't, as HDPE (the type of recycled plastic we use) is non-porous and does not absorb chemicals or soaps or any other types of liquids. Please ensure the cups, lids, and valves are washed thoroughly and completely dried before reassembly.

Does the plastic spout peel after repeated biting?

After three months, the spout shows no real sign of peeking or damage. Although my child doesn't vigorously chew on her cup. There are very small marks, like a tooth mark. The plastic doesn't seem the type to peel and so far no cracks or breaks. (My child tends to throw the cups down on the floor from the table).

Can these cups be steamed? I use a steaming sterilizer to kill germs in baby bottles. Is that possible with these?

I think so. I wash in dishwasher with no problems.
