The media could not be loaded. It arrived, I unboxed it, put the chain on, tensioned it, added oil and went to work. Grew up using gas chainsaws for firewood so I had my doubts. Wow am I pleasantly surprised. I took down a 20ft tall fruit tree and it cut through it like butter. Base was about 12" across and no issues. Do check your oil every few minutes to be safe. Mine has not leaked at all. Do tighten the chain after a few minutes because chains warm up and stretch. Just like the included manual says do not stop and start without waiting 5 seconds after all its electric and will add wear to the motor. It's a tough habit to break but required. Love this electric chainsaw and well worth the price. It doesn't come with oil so buy the Sun Joe oil. The extension is very sturdy and no flex. I couldn't believe how quick it is to connect and disconnect it. Very impressed and do your own research but this chainsaw is a workhorse. Can't speak to longevity but it's off to a great start.

After moving to the Big Island of Hawaii it became clear I needed a chainsaw for removal of invasive bushes/trees. II also wanted an electric model that was not dependent on a battery. The fact that this item offers an extension pole for reaching higher up was what convinced me to give it a try. I've now used it many times, cutting trees up to 8 inches in diameter. The unit has enough power to do the job but is also light weight. I've used the extension piece a couple of times to reach higher up and it also works well. Although, it can take a fair amount of strength to support the saw when it's extended quite a bit. It has an automatic chain oil feature but be sure to purchase the oil ahead of time as they do NOT provide any with the unit. Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance of this saw and how easy it is to use.

I am using this on a 25cc Craftsman weedeater that takes universal attachments. The setup was slightly annoying because it was overly difficult to get the chain on the bar/gear. I read some reviews talking about this thing leaking a lot of bar oil, but it honestly does not leak any more than my 3 other full size real saws. Once set up this things been pretty awesome. I moved to a very overgrown property in southern Missouri and this thing has been a huge help with getting stuff cleaned up. My first test cut was on a low hanging walnut tree branch about 5" in diameter and it cut through like butter. I have so far successfully brought down walnut, oak, locust thorn and those cigar tree branches (whatever they're called) up to 7 or 8 inches in diameter with no issue.....other random brush is gone in seconds. Pop the cover every once in a while to check for debris and make sure to tighten the fresh chain every so often as they tend to stretch a bit. Only time I've bogged down while cutting is when i forgot to open the choke on my power head after getting started lol. I've used this quite a few times now since receiving and have had no problems. I can easily recommend this product to anyone needing a cost effective tool for trimming trees or even basic saw tasks around a home/property. Worth every penny so far.

Update: Original review in September 2020, update December 2023. It still works just like the day I got it! I've cleared half an acre of 3 to 7 inch trees with this saw over time and it's still sharp and ready for more.Original: I have cut down several trees with this saw, which works equally well in-hand or on the pole. The reach is fantastic for getting branches just out of range. It cuts cleanly, cuts efficiently, and packs a mean punch for its size. I have cut down sweetgum, oak, and persimmon trees so far as well as blackthorn bushes, a boxwood, and some assorted woody weeds (too thick for the weed whacker). Make sure if you use it for trees that the diameter of the tree is less than that of the chainsaw blade - the largest I felled was a 7" across oak tree and it performed perfectly. It has been a boon for clearing out the forested land on my property. The tension is easy to adjust and it feels well-balanced on the pole. It is also very simple to switch from pole to hand-held and even my arthritic hands have no trouble operating this chainsaw.The first one I ordered cut through three trees and suddenly stripped a sprocket. I called customer support and they immediately responded and (after brief troubleshooting to see if the part could be replaced) sent me a replacement in the middle of the pandemic! Additionally, they emailed me a shipping label for free return on the faulty one. I will definitely be purchasing more Sun Joe products in the future.
