501 Russian Verbs (Barron's Foreign Language Guides) (Russian Edition)

Russian verbs-everything you need to know
This book's coverage on the intricacies and content of Russian verbs is encyclopaedic. It is a splendid reference book for all translators and students of Russian literature, and absolutely should be part of their bookshelf. Incidentally, reading through this book confirmed my initial opinion, in the course of my own years beginning to learn this language, how complicated and dense its grammar is. Are these grammatical rules all memorized and obeyed by all Russian native speakers?

Excellent reference.
Excellent reference. Easy to use. I used it to look up words as I used Rosetta Stone and found it extremely helpful. Excellent supplement. I found it useful when I was new to the language, but now that I know how to conjugate verbs, this book is even more helpful. It was difficult to use as an absolute beginner but still useful. But as an intermediate user, which I am now it is incredibly useful. I can lok at the conjugations and see the patterns clearly.

Better Verb Usage
I have been studying Russian for 10 years. Anyone from Beginner and up will find this book useful. It is very good in showing motion verbs - uni-directional & multi-directional. It can be used to find a pattern for any regular verb not already listed in the book. It is especially useful in finding the irregular forms. The 501 title is a misnomer. If you know the verbs in this book you will be able to confidently speak conversational Russian. The layout of the pages provides a clear and concise understanding of the relationship between the Perfective and Imperfective forms. Each entry provides the accents which are so important to clear speech. There is a dictionary in the back of the book which allows you to find words. Used in concert with 5,000 Russian Words (another publication) and Katzner's Russian/English dictionary you are well equipped to learn and translate from either English or Russian.

Helpful supplement
This book has come in handy, especially for the reflexive verbs. Yes I know that you should be able to conjugate regular verbs on your own, but guess what, sometimes I need to double check whether I've spelled the word correctly. It's especially useful for the reflexive verbs, which I usually forget how to conjugate. I would've liked to see more example sentences and accents. I know accents are not used in "real life", but as a beginner, I need to know where to stress the accent.

Great Tool for Russian Learners
I’m going through my first year of Russian and this book is a godsend. Perfective, imperfective, and proper conjugation for both makes 501 Russian Verbs a great tool for anyone learning the language. The example sentences are marvelously morbid - just enough so that you keep reading to find out why, exactly, we ran in horror.(As far as I can tell, there is no reason for the running or the horror. These are merely themes that seem to visit random pages throughout the book.)

Doesn’t Make Me Bored
This came way earlier than expected. This book is pretty thick, and there were lots of silly sentences used as examples with the verbs, such as “Let’s go on a chocolate diet”. It’s informational and not boring. This book is amazing. Just buy it already.

La perfection.
Plus parfait que ce livre, il n'y a pas. Une page par verbe conjugué à tous les temps et à toutes les personnes, imperfectif et perfectif, magnifique.Tout paraît presque plus simple.
