The overall look and structure of this table is acceptable for the casual seamstress, but the mechanism to raise and lower the sewing platform is completely inadequate and of an extremely poor design. The platform lists to one side because there is only one chain to support it. It is not a problem with our assembly- the mechanism comes preassembled. The design to lock the chain in one position is incredibly poorly engineered. The bolt is far too small for the hole it is supposed to go into. The company must recognize this problem, as they included an extra instruction sheet giving a work around for securing the chain in a different way.Luckily, my husband is handy, and we will be able to concoct a way to make the platform stable, but this really shouldn't be necessary.I do not recommend this product, even for the casual sewer.

I bought this for my daughter who needed a sewing cabinet/table. Her husband put it together and it didn't take long. The problem I have is that it did not come with a piece that covers the hole when the machine sits on the shelf so that the top is a solid surface to sew on .They are going to cut a piece of plexi glass to fit around the machine so that the surface is solid. This should have been included. Other than that it's a nice cabinet.

Overall, I like it! I was a little disappointed in the size of the drawers -- more narrow and less deep than I had thought -- can't hold too much.But -- overall, I am satisfied with this cabinet. Shipping was very quick; there was some damage to some of the pieces -- I called and theywere replaced very quickly!

My wife is not a "major league" seamstress, but she sews enough that she felt a cabinet would be handy. We looked at a large variety of cabinets she kept coming back to this unit, so we placed the order. We ordered it on Friday night and she was disappointed to learn that shipping would take a week, however it arrived mid-afternoon on Wednesday and she was really excited. She decided she would put it together and at that point the only question was how long would it be before I had to involved...20 minutes would won! ;-Dthe cabinet is MDF with a some type of veneer and I have seen many examples of MDF "furniture" that were just cheap. This cabinet is most definitely an exception. There are a lot of hardware pieces, but holes and fittings are very precise. Once assembled it seems to be quite a sturdy unit and my wife loves it! As for me, if I'm going to have to asemble something I can only hope it built to the same level as this cabinet.

it is a nice sewing desk, we glued the pieces together to make it stronger.
