BobelockHalf Moon 1047 Black/Wine 4/4 Violin Case

Just a heads up before you buy, the seller used a really heavy filter on the first sale picture. The case is not bright red but an odd brownish rust color. Maybe try for the green one? I also have the blue one the blue was nice. My blue one lasted me 20 years and I'm just now replacing it.Update. Arrived with the humistat missing and I now have to buy an entire new case(this case is useless) also one of the two keys is missing.

I ordered this as a Christmas present for my 11 year old violinist son who just graduated to a full size violin. This is a good, decent product, as advertised -- nothing fancy about it. It's a suspension case that comes with a hygrometer, humistat, string tube (wasn't in the advertisement), two bow holders, velcro neck restraint, blanket and accessory pocket inside the canvas outer music pocket. It's a lot lighter than my son's previous case, so that's a plus. I ordered the Bobelock's backpack style V-Strap separately, because I know my son would love it. It should have come with the case, though.

Odd shape for standing on end in bus subway or plane. must be carried horizontally. Handle on end not very useful. Don't bother trying it out with mailorder. You are penalized with arguments from dealer, then slapped with large socalled "restocking fee" if you wish to return it. Design shape is cute, but functionally so'so. Oddly heavier than expected. Bobelock is well known for cases that can resist impact damage, not certain about this one. Also stock hygrometers are notoriously unreliable.

I love this case. I needed a new one that was lighter and would travel well on flights with me. It's easy enough to carry with the backpack strap that I also bought and it stows easily in overhead. Never have a problem taking my violin with me on planes.

This case surprised me with a well designed place for my shoulder rest. I've always had to just figure out something with previous cases. It also has a good combination of weight, size and strength. I like it a lot.

I have no problems to report. Product is as expected. Overpriced, but was necessary for my instrument.
