Better than average
This dog house took about 45 minutes to lay out and put together. Its tongue and groove design snaps together easily. The material is kind of thin but seems much more durable than the wood dog house options available at our local retailers and it is easier to clean. It also provides much more protection from the weather than the majority of the plastic options.. While I would have preferred a top that could be easily opened for cleaning, the large doorway and corner drain holes make it do-able, along with the raised design which allows water to drain out. We added a thick rubber mat cut to size for comfort and the vinyl door flaps to maximize protection from the elements. The predrilled holes on the inside of the door frame were very convenient for this. While the size of this dog house is very spacious for the 40 lb beagle, it is cramped for the just over 100 lb German Shepherd. In my opinion, the measurements of this dog house are best suited for a dog up to 70 lbs. While it is described as XL, it will not fit your XL breed dogs so pay attention to those measurements. Overall, I found the $200 price point to be reasonable for the quality of its design, construction, materials and size.

The design is good enough.
Ordered house. Received it early and began the frustrating effort of trying to put together. The design is good enough ...on paper but the real problem is the structural strength of the individual boards. In order to attach everything correctly u have to make sure everything is EXACTLY true! Which is of course in the real world NOT the case. The vertical supports have grooved sections that is supposed to fit the side boards. The tolerances are too tight and these supports are extruded plastic so are inherently not exact. U can make the boards fit but that requires u to apply pressure against the boards and they will break. The biggest issue of course is that there is NO one to speak to about it. Nothing but an email customer service that promised contact in one working day. Don't hold your breath! It comes with warranty as well and very probably needs one but again no person to speak to no number to call nothing! Oh and for those of you who may have seen that there are YouTube vids to show how EASY assembly can be u won't find it on any of the larger dog houses only the smaller ones that have completely different design. Run do not walk from the jumbo rustic ecoflex disaster!

If your looking for a nice dog house this is it.
Very sturdy dog house, easy to put together and instructions are very easy to follow, looks nice and durable, hopefully it will last main reason for buying it was the 10 year warranty it comes with, my only dislike is that the floor corners are cut at angles and it does not seal up tight.

AMAZING CUSTOMER CARE! OUTSTANDING PRODUCT, 10 YEAR WARRANTY A+
***POSITIVE UPDATE FEB 26th 2026*** One of the long plastic screws that hold the roof panels in place failed so I reached out to New Age Pet via their company website to see if I could buy a spare screw. Well a package arrived in the mail today and to my surprise it contained a pack of replacement screws (no charge) for the whole dog house! I am totally blown away at this companies quick response so would like to say a BIG THANK YOU!!! I hope potential customers read this and can feel 100% confident not only in the New Age Pet products but know that this company has outstanding customer carea! *** A well designed dog house, 10 year warranty, super strong and easy to assemble. Don't be discouraged at a few negative reviews, I admit I was initially, but looking at the overall design, materials used I gave this one a chance. It takes about 45 min to assemble. No tools needed just line up and push into the locking slots. Instructions are easy to follow and the dog house is waterproof, can be stained, painted. The roof slides out for easy cleaning, the floor is rock solid, braced with aluminum bars for strength, also easy to clean inside and out. Filled this one up with some straw so hopefully our friendly Fox Peanut will use this for shelter in the fall, winter.

Bad Directions but Great House
After searching everywhere for a large dog house that I could use for my sulcata tortoises, I decided to go with this one. I chose it based on the size, because my boys are still growing, and I needed it tall enough to hang a heater. The house arrived in two boxes and the first thing I noticed is that the directions weren't going to be much help. I went ahead and spread everything out in my living room to get an idea of how it would go together, and after a lot of staring at the directions, I finally noticed that all of the flat parts have tiny numbers on them. I got all the pieces together to create the base, paying particular attention to which corner supports were for the front and which for the back, then I hauled everything outside to begin building. Once I got over the frustrating directions and got the base together, the rest was pretty easy. It goes together like a log cabin with alternating pieces on the side, side, front, back. Then the next row, side, side, front, back. Do this all the way around and eventually you get to the top. Unfortunately, once I did get to the top I realized that when I moved outside, I switched my corner supports so I had built the whole thing backwards. I was ready to kick it to pieces, but then I decided to lay it on its back to see if it would stay together. It did, and I was able to slide off the four corner supports then neatly slide them back on in the correct order. After that, I stood it up put in the thumb screws. Everything was very solidly put together. I reinstalled the floor which had fallen out when I was flipping it this way and that way, then added the roof. Since this was for 3-20 pound tortoises, the bottom lip at the entrance was too high so I built them some steps out of bricks and I screwed a cover over the top part of the door, then hung a heavy cloth over the bottom half that they can push aside to get in and out. I added the hanging heater lamp and that was it. I have two, 150 watt ceramic heat emitters but only one is turned on and the house stays nice and warm. So far it has been down to 41 here and it was still warm inside. I'm happy with my purchase and I think a dog would actually enjoy the house. I would definitely get a flap for the dog, too.

If You Can READ, This is EASY to Put Together!
I was so scared to get this bc of all the negative reviews. I am NOT savvy at mechanical things at all, but this was ridiculously easy to put together. It DID come with instructions that were super easy to understand. All the holes and notches lined up perfectly. No tears. No cussing. No regrets. It's super well made, too. You can tell it's not going to rot or leak or fall apart. I just had to come post a review to give hope to those that would like to order this but are afraid by what they read. Tips: 1) do what the directions say and lay out all pieces in numerical order; 2) don't get it a hurry and study the drawings and READ the instructions so you don't have to start over; 3) put all the screws and bolts in it to give it stability and ensure that all tongue and grove parts fit together before moving on. Love my dog house.

NOT AS DESCRIBED!
This looks literally nothing like the photos. It feels like this is made from particleboard, and I doubt it’s going to really last for more than a few months outside in the weather. The roof piece arrived cracked and does not install properly because of that. I’m super disappointed, and this was an enormous waste! The measurements are also off; this is smaller than was advertised. My dog won’t even use it. If it wasn’t so massive and heavy I’d return it, but I can’t carry it to get it shipped.

Breaks easily. See written review for more info.
I ordered two houses. One arrived with a piece broken off. The piece was still in the box so I glued it back on and finished the assembly. The assembly, by the way, is quite fun--it reminded me of Lincoln Logs, and my little daughter loved helping with it. One cold, icy morning below 0 degrees Fahrenheit, I tried to pick up one of the houses to move it so I could more easily get to something behind the dog houses. I grasped the edges of the roof and pulled straight up, expecting to just pick the house up and set it out of my way. I picked something up alright: it was the entire roof of the dog house, while the rest of the house stayed frozen to the ground. The brackets/sections of the wall (don't recall exactly how the house was held together and haven't yet tried to take it back apart to see if I can fix it) holding the roof on had split along their whole length on both sides. I mentioned how cold it was in case that had something to do with it, but since one house arrived already slightly broken, I doubt the cold had much to do with it. I also recall cracking another piece when I had to pull a few pieces apart again while assembling it in quite mild temperatures. Furthermore, there were no "cannot be used in extreme temperatures" warnings either online or in the box. I would rather the company sent me a new dog house for free, as I quite like the design and am capable dealing with fragile items, but I do want to warn others as fragility is not a quality I would expect anyone to value in a dog house.

Would buy again
Amazingly easy to set up. Make sure to follow the instructions. It advises if you put all the parts in numerical order it will make your life easier. does it ever. My dog loves the house, it seems very sturdy and I think it will last for a very long time
