These are quality
Been looking for a reasonably priced set of binoculars for bird watching for a few years. These are not inexpensive binoculars- but they are worth every penny (my opinion). The optics are crystal clear. The set is medium in weight and solid-feeling. I’ll be using these for many years.

Absolutely Fantastic! My Goto Binos!
Awesome binos for the price, clear image, no distortion, center focus, smaller/medium size. These are my go to binos due to their quality and size.

Manageable size, lightweight, easy to use and amazing clarity.
I did a ton of research before buying these to take with us on hikes and vacations. It was worth the effort. For the price, I don’t think they can be beaten.

Outstanding Binoculars!
I've been looking for a good pair of binoculars for my wife over the last 6 months. She loves birding and the small pair she bought for herself several years ago have poor contrast and don't transmit much detail - bad for birding. At a recent astronomy trade show, I found this pair in both 8x42 and 10x42. In looking through them around the hall at the farthest distance I could find, I was impressed with the very clear view and bright image. Since buying her the 10x42s, I've used them myself at night to look at various celestial objects and they have no chromatic aberration that I can see, unlike my pair of binoculars from a very good manufacturer. She loves these Oberwerk binoculars and so do I!

Hate to say it but they are average for the $400 price point.
I really wanted to like these, being that I'm in Ohio and they are made in the next town over, however, they have some immediate things that, compared to my Vortex Viper 10x42 HD, are obvious. First is the narrow perceived field of view when looking through the Oberwerk. It's very noticeable when I look through my Vortex; the picture is bigger, more expansive, and much more pleasurable to experience. The Oberwerk also has a noticeably flatter looking picture (depth of field), meaning very little depth perception looking at various objects in the same line of sight set and at different distances. I looked down my street at a white and blue mailbox, which I know for a fact is 120yds away, and the Oberwerks appear to be 1-1.5 x less magnification or 9x. Very surprising, as the vortex seems to be much closer to a true 10x magnification. These Oberwerks did, however, seem a tick brighter, but that's about it. I also had to ding them for not having a locking diopter ring, which at this price point should be standard bc the diopter ring on these is easily moved, and grabbing them for a quick view, your chances of being out of focus are high. If that's not something that can be added, at least make the diopter ring 20x stiffer to rotate. Fit and finish are good, and they feel good in the hands. With that being said, and having owned many comparable binos(Leupold, Nikon, Pentax, Athlon) at this price point I feel these are just average for what you get and there are better choices for the $400-$500 price point.

Oberwerk 8x42 Sport ED - Wanted to like them....but
These are very good binoculars. Well made and solid. The only issue is that I wear eyeglasses and no matter how I adjusted the eyecups I would see blackouts around the image. Must be my glasses or face structure but it did not work for me. I love these binoculars but couldn't get around the eye relief issue advertised at 18mm. That said, do not hesitate to purchase these wonderful optics unless you are an eyeglass wearer. If you wear eyeglasses I would suggest that you try them in person first. Very good optics!

Better than binoculars twice the price
Got this pair for birding and animal viewing and couldn’t be happier. Smooth focusing, bright, sharp and light to carry. Well built. Great customer service and support. This is my second pair from Oberwerk. My other is a big BT70 on a tripod which is perfect for home viewing. I also have a high end Steiner marine binoculars which are fine for boating but too heavy and clunky to focus for anything else.
