Works Very well
Photos show the same time frame. Even when down in the low 20’s, it holds the temperature perfectly. This is not a substitute for winterizing, but it’s a good backup for additional peace of mind.

Nice little unit
This is a great little heater. It turns on around 45 degrees F, which is a bit better than another bilge heater I know which clicks on around 39. I like having those few extra degrees of security. Additionally this comes with a nice long power cord and my favorite a mounting bracket. How do other bilge heaters not come with a mounting bracket is crazy to me. I installed this on a side wall in my bilge up off the bottom of my boat. My other heater was teetering between two hoses. For this price I could and should have bought two of these instead of the other competitor. This heater also has a green light for on and an orange light for running. This too is helpful to know the heater did not break and you can visually see it without trying to listen to hear if it's running or putting your hand near it. Currently this has kept my bilge warm enough from any water lines freezing. I would definitely buy another when the time comes.

Perfect for Boat Engine Winterization!
We bought this heater to help ensure the boat engine did not freeze during the winter. It's automatic and spark safe. Just plug it in! So far it has worked very well! North Texas just went through another few days of FREEZING temperatures and the heater maintained around ~50 degrees F for at least 36 hours straight with no issues. See image of 26F degrees outside temp vs 51F degrees inside the engine compartment. To be fair, I did buy a second one of these for the other side of the engine and to act as a backup should one actually fail. The heater also has a nice mounting bracket that allows you to remove it if you want to during the warmer months. Well worth the ease of mind during the winter months.

Easy install and quality look good.
I installed this in minutes. It fit into a smallish bilge, no problem. Installed ahead of one of the most severe and long below freezing winters in a decade. It seems to be working perfectly. We are looking ahead to spring. I WILL update if there are problems. So far excellent!

Don't trust this for winterization! My engine froze over the winter...
Bought this at the end of the season last year. Per the detail, thought this would be good to keep my engine from freezing while in my shop and allowing me more time to fish than antifreeze winterization. But when I pulled the boat out for the new year and started it, all started well, but quickly died. There was water in the oil. I checked oil and all other fluids before starting it up with it being fine, though after it died and would not restart looked again and my fears were realized. There was now water in the oil, so my engine compartment clearly got below freezing even though the heater seemed to be running fine every time I checked during the winter. The boat was in my shop and had blankets over the blower holes on the engine compartment to trap the warmer air inside. I will find out soon enough if this is a $7000 bill or I get lucky with it being another component. Either way, I would not trust this product. It sickens me that this happened and I will never forgo the old method of winterization process again. There is just too much at stake; this is getting tossed in the trash.Update: 6/25. It is confirmed; it was a $6,500 bill to replaced the cracked block caused by freezing water. I contacted the company with a response "The Engineering team has confirmed my understanding of the usage of this product. The Pali is intended to extend the boating season and protect the engine against surprise cold snaps prior to winterization. Winterization of the boat is still required when using the Pali unit.". I pushed back indicating there was nothing at the time speaking of other "winterization" requirements, though I see now the Amazon verbiage has changed to add that. My box also shows pictures of boats in snow, in storage and no note of winterizing requirements, nor does the manual say or warn about this. Additionally, my boat was not exposed to the elements and in my shop that is warmer than outside temps. I think this company believes I will just go away since their "Engineering Team and Supervisor has still not responded to my retort, including pictures of the manual and box where it indicates this will prevent your engine from freezing in "cold snaps", whatever that may mean. Being in my shop, it rarely got below freezing, so within that time, there was a catastrophic failure. I'm not sure what "extending" the season means, because it is exactly what I was attempting to get more use from the boat in the months that have the best fishing. From my experience, the lack of any true caring by the company, correspondence and no ownership or responsibility for a product I bought in good faith, I can't ever use this product again. Again, the manual, nor the box mentions winterization, not to mention warning you it needs to be done. The box has pictures of boats in storage and on the water with snow on them. The verbiage talks about preventing your motor from freezing, but clearly did not work for me. This is a boat anchor now and I just don't know how this company thinks it can sell a product that clearly does not work and causes such a great loss to their client without any type of guarantee or protection. This is not over, I will be filing a lawsuit Caframo.

Keeps boat engine bay above 32deg
I ordered 2 (redundancy, odds of both failing extremely small. The On - Off temp settings don't match the info exactly, but it hasn't gone below 34deg in the engine bay yet and we've had some outside temps down to 15deg. My 26' I/O is on a lift, so no partial protection from sitting in the water. The temp has been cycling about hourly, 10 minutes or less to heat up to 40's (typically, but not always to the same temp) and 50 minutes to get back down to low 30's where the heat starts again. I highly recommend pairing this with "SensorPush" ($50), a remote temp/humidity gauge that advertises reporting to your bluetooth cellphone to 300'. I know it works to 100' through the hull and into the far side of my house. I also recommend the "SensorPushGateway" ($100), which connects the gauge to the internet via wifi. Bluetooth is no longer required and I can check on the temp from anywhere at anytime, and a record for at least the last few months is available and easy to read/adjust). Nice to be able to check on the engine bay when on travel and alert neighbors if the heaters or (more likely) power fails.

Good once it started working after the freezer test
To begin with, I do not think my heater worked on arrival. Look at my pic and you will see the red area where it appears to not be working. So upon my panic as temps dropped I tested it in the freezer per manual. That would be where you see a consistent pattern that has kept my jet ski hull above 40 degrees. I think that the "test" triggered the thermostat to work properly. Otherwise, I was ready to return this because as you can see from the bluetooth thermometer I added...it was dropping very close to freezing until I took action. However it appears to be saving me from winterizing my ski and alowing me to store outside while using wintertime.
