Makes a perfectly cooked round egg for bagel or English muffin sandwich
This is absolutely the most perfect way to cook one round scrambled egg. I still use a little spray oil since it’s new, but I probably don’t need to. The skillet is smooth and comes heat seasoned. The egg cooks quickly and perfectly. Once done it slides right out. Anything left in the skillet wipes right off. Then just wipes out with warm water. Dry thoroughly. So easy and almost effortless to clean. I am relieved to not have to scrub my stainless steel skillet anymore! Cast iron is also non-stick without the health concerns that other nonstick skillets can cause.

A forever pan
In all honesty, I returned the pan because it was smaller than I had wanted. Because it rated 5 stars in my book, I went ahead and ordered the larger pan, the 9" I believe it is. Even though one returned, both are stellar cookware! They will last forever. I'm still learning about the preseasoned character, and will have to figure out whether or not I like it verses the "old style" which I have used for 25 or so years. The old style is smooth to the touch where the preseasoned is a little bumpy and I don't know if it will lend itself to cooking (for instance) a fried egg without breaking the yolk. So far, the egg sticks (where it doesn't in the old style). Apparently, even though washing the (new) pan clean, there must be some kind of buildup of oil or ?? to create a smooth surface for items you don't want to stick to the pan. Anyway, time will tell!!

Great Little Skillet
I wanted a skillet that would be the right size and shape for 1 egg and room for some extras like ham, cheese or whatever. It is the perfect size to fit a bun for sandwiches. There is still plenty of room for 2 eggs if desired. I have tried many kinds of supposedly non stick skillets. They work fine at first but they all failed after a few uses. I always go back to cast iron. From past experiences I found that cast iron works ok at first and with the right care they get better with use. We have one my wife had before we were married 54 years ago and it works very well yet. I thought at first that 16 dollars was a kind of steep price but it will serve me the rest of my days and then many years after I depart. This one did not stick with the first use. I am very pleased with this purchase. I use this one and my 6 and 1/2 skillet on my Pizzazz Pizza oven. It heats from the top and bottom so no flipping midway required and things do not burn. Anything I cook in this skillet on the stove top or oven I can do on the Pizzazz.

Great buy!
This little cast iron pan is perfect for cooking a couple of eggs, fish filets, etc. It’s perfect for one person and very easy to clean. Will probably buy a few more to use when grandkids come over.

Smaller than you think
This is smaller than I thought it would be. Just under 5" from widest part of the pan. However, this is really a great item if you are preparing individual sides or treats. It's fairly shallow, so not a lot of food will fit, but it's a great idea for individual serving. The cast iron seems quite durable, so this piece will last a long time.

Great pan!
Love Lodge's cast iron! This is a great pan, very well made and just gets better and better the more you use it. Great size for small jobs like frying or scrambling an egg, small pancakes or French toast.Surprisingly it also a does a wonderful facsimile of a grill! It's been in the single digits outside and I use mine to "grill" hamburgers, hot dogs, even ham on my electric stove! Also, it makes a wonderful grilled cheese and really good quesadillas (if you get the smaller size tortillas. Plus, cleanup is a breeze; a stiff plastic brush and hot water cleans virtually everything off, a few drips of olive oil wiped in to keep it sleek and it's ready for the next job!

Might need deeper walls
Takes a little longer to heat up and not as evenly distributing heat as the other brand I bought of this same tiny (5”) pan on Amazon—and more expensive. I love my 10” Lodge, which I use daily. Not sure what about the design that isn’t ideal for tiny cooking but others online say deeper walls.

Perfect for single servings
This works great for single servings, frying burgers and eggs, and for melting butter. You won't fit multiples of anything in here but it's not intended for large servings or meals. My only regret is that I couldn't find a glass lid to fit, although my 5" cast iron lid works just fine and fits perfectly.I use tongs and flexible spatulas so I never have a problem flipping or removing the food I'm cooking. For those who might complain about its size, I can only suggest that they read the description and look at a tape measure.Oh, it has a decent heft for its size and the quality is high.
