This is the best way to secure your backyard and still have 2 way access.
I was worried that this wouldn't work on a outswing gate since the description and pictures don't say. Decided to buy it and try anyways knowing my installation wasn't typical. When opened there's instructions to install for outswing. Installing was a breeze. My wife loved that the backyard is secured for our daughter to play in and I have ability to unlock for access from the outside.

Perfect lock for our gate - and no batteries needed!
Worked great for my needs. Can be used for a gate that hinges inward or outward and in my case our gate was an outward one. Directions were good and it was an easy install once you read through the directions and understand how it works (was my first time doing one of these). And no batteries on an outdoor lock device the is exposed to the elements is a huge bonus in my opinion.

Bigger is better!
I have had the smaller version for many years and it has worked well. Over time, the door wouldn't stay up and closed over the tumblers and I frayed one of the wires when I installed it (my fault) so it didn't hold up as well. I bought the bigger one this time. I used the same hole in my gate and install went smoothly. I like the bigger tumblers, but the little door doesn't stay up unless you ensure that it "clicks" shut. If I could recommend a revision, it would be for the door to open up instead of down so it stays in place and keeps the tumblers dry and clean. The one other item, where the wire is supposed to slide under where the wire crosses between the two tiny screws, the groove needs to be a bit deeper. We couldn't get it to go where it was intended so we just taped the tail down inside with electrical tape. And the spring a number of people mentioned, I used the larger spring that came with my first version. It worked much better than the tiny one that was supplied with the new model and would have gone right in to the hole in my fence post. Overall, I like that it is simple and does not need batteries.

Wish they had sizing options
I love these locks but if you may have to get the longer rod for the lock. They have the at Walmart and home depot for a few extra bucks definitely worth it for the price of mind

Good product but terrible service
My review is for my purchase/return experience with the company and their support (by the president Don) more than the actual product which once we finally received the right one works well. The lock I received was wrong, it did not have the sliding cover over the numbers on the outside of the gate so if we set the code so we can go in and out while working outside anyone can see it so we have to lock it every single time. It also did not have the plastic cover on the inside which was the issue I noticed first. I was busy when I received it and thought maybe I'd ordered one without the slide cover but knew it was supposed to have the plastic cover on the inside, upon reviewing the listing it should have had both.Anyhow this is the series of events trying to get this resolved with Yardlock support (the president of the company)...Timeline:June '21 - received the lockset and had a carpenter install it. After install I saw there was no plastic cover on the inside of the fence and spoke with him about it. He thought maybe he misplaced it and contacted Yardlock support. He was told they'd send him a new back cover. We waited and waited with nothing. He contacted multiple times and was told it was shipped and should arrive - it never did.September '21 - After waiting months for the parts to arrive and being outside of the Amazon return window I reviewed the listing and realized that it WAS supposed to have the slide cover on the front. I sent a message to their support and got a response from the companies president Don. Don asked for photos which I supplied, clearly the wrong lock in the first place. After a back and forth and providing multiple photos I did not hear from Don again for weeks...October '21 - after sending photos and messaging several times over 3 weeks Don responds back with "How can I help you?" - our entire conversation history was in the thread that he'd not responded to for over 3 weeks. Again no response for another 5 days. Finally Don says on Oct 13th he mailed a new lock a couple of weeks agoDecember '21 - Not having received anything, supposedly shipped from Canada to the US end of September per our email thread, I contacted again and 3 days later having not heard back I contacted once again expressing my frustration since at this point it does not seem like either time a shipment was promised anything was actually shipped. I've received several packages from countries much further than Canada which I ordered since this was supposed to have shipped. Don's response this time was "Parts were mailed to you as promised. Since your installer did such a poor job installing and loosing parts, maybe get him to buy you a new kit." Obviously Don does not really care and hasn't paid attention, the lock was wrong whether the installer lost the inner cover or not. My frustration after 6 months is understandable and his reaction is ridiculous. At this point I said I gave up and would leave a review on Amazon - magically now Don says he's mailing a replacement. I did receive the replacement and it works great, but my overall negative review of the experience and Don's support stands.

No more strangers in my backyard.
We wanted a key code gate, but we didn't want one that required an app. This is perfect. The string, that you would normally pull, to open the gate, is hidden, and that string is only available once you enter the correct code to open the little key code box. When the box is opened, the box actually pulls the string for you. Because of the "hood", on the inside of the gate, people cannot reach over the gate to attempt to lift the latch up. So, this gate has solved our problems. There are no more strangers in our backyard. And, we now have privacy in our backyard.Update to this review, after having it for a few months. We love this keypad lock. The only downside to it is that, at night, the numbers are very hard to see. So, you need to pull out your iPhone to use it as a light source, and even then, the numbers are very hard to see, and it takes a few tries to get the numbers right. It's actually so difficult, that we've just decided to never use that gate at night. On another note, for people who are deciding whether or not to buy this, and are confused on the description of how the lock works.... if you've ever seen an unlocked garden gate, and you pull the cord to unlatch the gate, that is basically how this works. With this cool keypad lock, you cannot "pull" the string, unless you know the code, to get to the string. With this lock, you don't actually pull the cord, but the door of the lock pulls the cord, when the little door opens up(the door pulls the cord for you, because the cord is attached to the little door). We love this lock because we did not want to rely on an app, and internet, in order to open a keypad. We wanted to go old fashioned, and this keypad is perfect.
