does this fit over the bench seat in a jon boat

If you can get me the measurements of your bench seat. Both height and width I can tell you. I measured mine and from the floor to the bottom of the horizontal cross bar is 11-3/4" but at the height it would span only 9" as you see that number increases as it transitions to the bottom. That bottom spread measurement is 17-1/4". I sure hope that helps in some way.

What size seat swivel is needed for this?

Attached a standard size seat that was on another base. Will be ordering a 2nd one. Very sturdy and stable

can I slide a pedestal mount seat into this?

You have to attach it to the square flat swivel . The swivel is what slides in.

Is it strudry enough to be seated up on plane in a jon boat

I do not know about a plane. I use it in my boat, fishing on the bank, or just a seat to sit on at a camp site. It is sturdy no wobble.
