Excellent book on watercolor and really like how she explains eveything
Excellent book on watercolor and really like how she explains everything. It also goes into the different techniques and gives you homework to learn. I love this book. For any Artist:Color Mixing Bible, by Ian SidawayPANTONEs Guide to Communicating with color by Eiseman. It is a great book to use to understand the psychology behind color and how it is used tocommunicate a mood or feeling. Let's face it, Marketing does this all the time and it can alsobe used as a guide when deciding what hues you want to use in your artwork. I love this book, itis a great reference for me and also has some surprising color combinations that I wouldnever have thought of._________________________"COLOR WORKS, the Crafters Guide to Color" by Deb MenzFOR ANYONE who wants to know about COLOR THEORY this text breaks it down so that ANYONE can understand this complexsubject. I learnt more about color theory in this book than all others put together because I now "Understand" the concept. While this book is for the textile artist, ALL artists should get it and it also has cut outs to use when choosing yourcolour palette whether it be for Fashion Design or Art.________________________________For Watercolour:Water Colour in motion, O'ConnorPainting Watercolour that dance with light, KincaidPainting flowers with Impact in Watercolour, CollinsJean Haine's Atmosphere WatercoloursWatercolour from the Heart, NechisHow to Paint Watercolor Flowers, Create Your Own in 6 Easy Steps, Robin Berry for Reader's DigestVibrant Flowers in Watercolour by Soon Y. Beautiful
I've admired Rose Edin's work for many years and love this book. She explains, step by step, how to accomplish the look that's her trademark. Throughout, she offers little tips which I've found to be very helpful. Like, instead of mixing color on the palette, layer on the painting itself. Surprisingly, this gives a fresher to the color.I wish I had paid more attention to her earlier books. As it is, I feel like I'm having to unlearn years of habits that really didn't get me where I wanted to be.

30 years of experience, it's here, in Color Harmonies!
Color Harmonies by Rose Eden is a fantastic addition to your instructional book collection. Rose Eden has given to us an unlimited amount of instruction and advice in one book, usually only found in many books. Her secrets of 30 years are tucked into this great book. I have attended many of Rose Eden's workshops, have every book she has ever published and still love her new Color Harmonies. Believe me the secret in this book is not found in any other single book, many secrets are not found in any of her books. Just this one!If you are a accomplished painter, there are new ideas here for you. If you are just beginning, this book covers everything and more than you need to start water color painting also an area of step-by-step. If you are intermediate, this book will help you to move forward with rewarding examples and a new view point.I highly recommend this as THE number ONE water color instructional book of the year!!! It is also available for your Kindle. Give it a try!! Vivian

Does't deliver
I'm giving this book 3 stars because the paintings are gorgeous and they deserve at least that. Other than the paintings, the content is severely lacking. There isn't much here that I haven't seen in other watercolor books already and none of it actually tells you how to paint like she does. A primer on color theory would be expected in a book like this, but we aren't even given that. If my parrot hadn't decided that this was to be her new chew toy I would have returned it.

This is a beautiful book wish I would have gotten the book itself
This is a beautiful book wish I would have gotten the book itself, it was cheaper to down load it. Rose Edin has very beautifully painted floral, and landscape in this book. She has a unique way with how she does her color she is not afraid to really put the paint on but it does not distract from the subject at hand or overwhelm at all. I am going to have to read this one a couple of more times its very intriguing.

Very good
Very good, clear articulation of her style and technique. Only a couple of occasions where specific techniques were not fully explained. Very pleased overall

Negative space?
I purchased Rose Edin's previous book and was excited to try more negative space projects but this book didn't include much in that direction. The book itself is very helpful in color and ideas. I would reccommend it to artists interested in furthering their knowledge of color.

very motivational
When I first opened the book my thoughts were "I can't do that!". However, when I sat down and read it properly and picked out the pieces I felt relevant to the style I am trying to develop, I started to find it invaluable. You are not restricted to only following the author's techniques, they are after all only a guide. I would definitely recommend this especially if you want to try something different.

WIZARDRY FOR THE WEALTHY WATERCOLOURIST
The authoress is a master ((or should that be mistress ?) of the watercolour technique, and I bought this book because I liked the style of her work, which is well represented by the cover. The book contains many technical tricks beloved of watercolourists for creating special effects, some well-known, a few innovative, using contemporary technology. The very generous illustrations are without exception first-class, mostly breathtaking in their complexity and use of colour, and for the watercolourist, the book is worth having for these alone. But you should know that to emulate her work, you will need to be quite wealthy. Some 95% of the illustrations are of works executed on full imperial (22"x30") watercolour paper, and some are twice that size. And she uses only expensive size 16 and 18 brushes (as you would need to on paper that size), plus a rigger and a hake. She also makes unrestrained and skillful use of masking fluid, and although this technique is not illustrated in any detail, I guess from what she describes that anything from half to a full bottle goes on a single painting. The book is designed more to tell you in detail how the authoress (Edin) creates her remarkable paintings, rather than to teach you the not-so-simple art of watercolour, but much can be learned from it nevertheless. If you're a collector of watercolour books, You would want this one.
