Federico Garcia Lorca: A Life

Spain's Very Identity Condensed Into One Man
This well researched biography of Spain's great twentieth century poet is perhaps most noteworthy as an act of restoration that refutes an insidious process of falsification. Here Ian Gibson has single-handedly recovered and preserved crucial facts about Lorca's politics, his sexuality and his execution by fascist forces so that posterity might have a truer picture of a remarkable man.

rather boring.
I prefer a biography that gets into the workings of the artist' thoughts and soul. The writer apologized in the forward for not having been able to find information on Lorca's emotional life, which I wish I had read in "open me" before I purchased the book. Hence, the text was a general chronology of this happened and that happened which is not a satisfying read for me. Frankly, rather boring.

exceptionally fine biography
An exceptionally fine biography and introduction to Lorca, both detailed and over-arching. I commend the book highly.

So I have no idea how good the book is or isn't but I could not ...
My problem was the size of the print. It is tiny and I could never get through such a lengthy book. So I have no idea how good the book is or isn't but I could not read it. I do think the reader should be forewarned about this.

They typesetting, not the story
The story and writing is exhaustive and informative but the typesetting of this book is tiny and unclear. My eye site is 20/20 but I had great difficulty reading the pages because they type is so small.

¡Qué lástima! What a shame!
I can't believe that such an excellent book can be printed so badly. The words are so small as to be almost illegible. What is the matter with Faber and Faber? What a shame!Un libro muy bueno PERO muy mal impreso.Ilegible. Vergüenza a la editorialFaber and Faber.
