exactly what i was looking for
This was a replacement for a hinge support on a cedar chest. Exactly the same dimensions so I could replace a broken one.I will say, if you're looking for something that will do a soft-close on your lid, this is not it. This is a support so the lid stays 90-degree open or doesn't open too far and over the back. Once you start closing your lid, it will slam down past 45 degrees. But this doesn't claim to do soft-close -- it is as advertised.

I ordered the wrong size. I reordered and they are a must have. I was going to purchase a new bench storage. Once I replaced the hardware it works perfectly.

This pair seemed weaker
Not exacly sure why, but this pair of lid supports seemed to have a weaker spring than the other identical sets I've used. Usually they hold the lid at about 85 degrees, these would not hold the lid open at all.I've built a lot of chests and favor these lid supports. I hope this set was an anomaly and not the new norm. One screw head twisted off on install, too.They still provide a soft close, so I let them stay on. I can understand the frustration of first time buyers with the fact there are no installation instructions, as well.

Does not work
Does not work. Replaced a much older unit that looked almost identical on a fairly light lid on a wood bench. This does not slow the lid or hold it at all.

Not much help to lift.
Installed it and it did not make a big difference in making the heavy lid lighter. It is more of a slow closer than a lid lift helper. Other than that it worked fine.

Slam hazard
Looks good and decent at keeping the lid from falling a bit, but after a few inches it becomes a slam hazard.Honestly cannot recommend.

Support pour mon coffre à rangement pour remplacer celui qui était tout rouillé. Il est identique à mon ancien, donc même grandeur. Le coffre est mieux supporté maintenant.
