A reliable Switch
This was advertised correctly, the images were accurate, and it’s Great. I liked it a lot. This might be a good choice if you’re looking for Network Switch. The packaging arrived as expected and without incident. Delivery was fast and as promised. Overall, I am thrilled with the product and comfortable with the five stars. I have no problem recommending this or the seller.

NETGEAR unit great if you want to seriously stream Video over ethernet within your home network
Review of Netgear ProSAFE JGS524PE 24-Port Gigabit PoEThis unit was purchased to replace my existing Netgear ProSAFE GS116Ev2 16 port Gigabit Switch. As I did not really plan to make this purchase, I found the unit on Amazon while looking for a different product. After reading a review from someone talking about the new web management interface, I decided to get the unit. Previously I was using my GS116Ev2( NETGEAR ProSAFE GS116E 16-Port Gigabit Desktop Web Managed (Plus) Switch (GS116Ev2) ) with a Belkin 8 both Gigabit port. Having a single switch would make things easier. I can use my GS116Ev2 as a possible backup (once I use all 24 ports). This unit is being used at my home as I have a high quality business Internet connection. The features that attracted me to the device were the following:- Lifetime Warranty- 24 Ports- 12 PoE ports for a future surveillance system- VLAN, QOS, IGMP Snooping, rate limiting, and traffic monitoring- Loop detectionThe VLAN will be used to separate my home into two networks. One VLAN for all my consumer level devices and the other VLAN for the servers hosted on a DMZ network. With the GS116Ev2 I was very annoyed to manage the switch via a Windows desktop utility, but Netgear provided a firmware update to use a web management interface. The interface works well for my JGS524PE.The unit allowed me to organize my ethernet cables more efficiently than using the previous two switches. I was able to create the DMZ VLAN for my servers and consumer grade Firewall (Skydog) and a separate VLAN for all my consumers devices and use only 1 network port on the LAN side of the Skydog unit ( Skydog Web App and Smart Family Wi-Fi Router with Cloud Service Subscription ).Why would I need to use a Commercial grade switch for my home?I have a large home digital video collection (home videos, iTunes Movies/TV show, TiVo system). Living within a large metropolis area I was able to use a HD aerial antenna (purchased from Amazon) connected to my TiVo Roamio base unit to receive over 84 digital channels. Within the home I have TiVo Mini in 3 rooms and a TiVo Stream using the home Ethernet for the Video feeds. A normal consumer grade router would not be able to priority feeds alone. I have tried using the Skydog to prioritize all Video devices, but I did not have steady connections for the LIVE TV signal to be carried on two Mini units simultaneously. The problem was solved with the unit due to the number of ports. My previous unit did not have enough ports to support two VLANs and the Skydog does a better job prioritize Internet feeds not home Video feeds. TiVo would recommend to put all my TiVo on the same router (the Skydog), but there are only 4 ports (and I have 5 TiVo devices). Their recommendation force me to limit what I can use.Using the features VLAN and loop detection, I was able to create a VLAN for my devices using Ethernet. The JGS524PE preforms so well that I have all the home devices (TiVo units, three Apple TVs, and Apple Desktop running iTunes) on the same VLAN transmitting video without any problems:* TiVo Roamio streaming to the Minis & Stream.* TiVo Stream streaming to my iOS devices* Apple iTunes library streaming 1080p Movies, TV Episodes, and Podcasts to my Apple TVs.My Apple TV and TiVos are in the same rooms each with a separate ethernet cables. The unit has motivated me:* To finish wiring my second floor with Ethernet (for 4 rooms)* To install server software to manage software updates for my home network and reduce the amount of internet traffic within my home* Watch more Streaming TV thru Netflix and Hulu.Quite a good find via my casual browsing of Amazon. The added bonus I receive was 6 months of Amazon Unlimited Cloud. Amazon notified via email a few weeks after my purchase of this benefit. Of course I redeemed it.

Some units have a loud fan buzz, otherwise great
The media could not be loaded. The unit works beautifully and I love the separation of LEDs from the connectors, but my first two units (of three) had a very loud buzzing noise in the fan. I'm not talking about the sound of moving air (which is of course expected, and is actually very quiet), but a persistent grinding/buzzing from the fan itself. The company's overseas support was of little help after approximately 80 pieces of mail back and forth. I sent recordings, and one person agreed it sounded "not right," then another said that it is normal. Another later added that "an engineer" said that they can't promise a replacement would be any better. Another said, "I know where you're coming from," and finally I was told that if I give them my credit card as "collateral" they will send me another one and "have your device tested in our facility." But there was no assurance at all that it would not be just as bad (in fact, I was essentially told it would be the same), so why give my plastic over the phone to someone at a distant call center who had never actually seen the product?I told them that I'll find a quiet fan and replace it myself if they can't do better than that. "It will void your warranty" was the only reply.UPDATE June 28, 2016: After lots of head-butting with non-tech support, I managed to connect with their US office... and they were very friendly and responsive, shipping a new unit without any difficulty. It did have the same issue but nowhere near as badly, with a sharp buzzing sound on top of the airflow noise itself (that part is fine and very quiet). The fan that is making the noise is a single EFB0412MD, and is 40x40x20mm, 3-wire. Mounting is trivial, with a standard connector over to the board.. so replacement should be easy. I bought a suitable fan, but the new unit has been so much better than the original one that I have not seen the need to do the replacement. At this point, I consider the problem solved, but have not yet stressed it with heavy POE loads. I just bumped my review up to four stars.(I did just bump it up to 3 stars, because other than the buzzing, it works perfectly and has a very sensible panel layout. Also, once I got past the overseas support and communicated with the home office in Silicon Valley, the quality of help went WAY up.)

Nice switch for small-ish PoE networks
I purchased this switch for the house to consolidate a few smaller and older switched that were in use. This has worked out well for me and I do recommend this switch for home or small buisness use.Pros:- Desktop or rack mountable - rack ears included- Fast - Gb speeds are good and are plenty for my use case- Quiet - there is a small fan on this unit, and up close I can hear it, but tucked away it is not noticeable- PoE - I have several PoE devices and this switch powers them just fine- # of ports - This is the first switch I have owned that was more than 8 ports, and it is nice having things consolidated and having an overall more simple network architecture- Some network management capability (Flow control, VLANs, etc.)Cons:- So far noneSo far this switch has allowed me to re-work my network to be more logical, segment certain devices, centrally power PoE devices, and track network usage easier (port mirroring as well as just easy view of port throughput in the management console). The unit is quiet, functional, was easy to setup, and has a few ports left for future expansion. I haven't used all of the features of this switch yet, but I think it is meeting my requirements perfectly.
