A Solid Product that Works as Expected
This little USB switch/hub fit my needs very well. I wanted a way to easily share my wired peripherals between three computers. I connected this device to open usb ports on my home laptop dock, my work laptop dock, and my tower pc using the supplied cables. Then I connected my printer, my scanner, my bluray player, and a large solid state hard drive using the USB cords that came with each peripheral. I went ahead and attached a 5 amp power supply as well, though for these current devices I don't think I actually need it. If you need it you'll have to supply your own and it will need a standard micro usb connection to connect to this switch. Once plugged in all three computers immediately recognized all four devices as I toggled from one PC to the next.. I did have to load the drivers manually for my old scanner on the computers with which it had never been used. There is a little button at the end of a 6 foot cord that attaches to the device that is pressed to toggle between the devices. Lights on top of the device tell which computer is active. Of course only one computer is active at a time. It works great! I haven't had it long but so far I've had zero issues. The 4 cords that are supplied to connect to your computers are proprietary and are the only thing that will plug into the device. Two of them are 6 feet long and two are 4 feet. On the other end you can use any USB cords you like, including older non-3.0 cords so long as your devices don't require more. You will have cords coming out both the front and back of this guy and there is a lot of cable to manage. I keep everything mounted and hidden under my desk as I don't like having any cords up top except for the ones that attach my laptops to their docks. (With the unit under my desk I can't easily see the indicator light to know which pc is live but the windows device connect/disconnect chimes let me know just as well.) All of my computers are running Windows 10. For a while I actually attached a separate USB hub to this device so that I could also include a keyboard and mouse. It works just fine but I found that I actually prefer to have separate dedicated keyboard/mouse setups for each pc. I'm only using 3 of the 4 pc slots but I have the other cord attached so that my wife can easily connect her laptop when she wants to print something. Perhaps someday all my peripherals will be wireless but until then this little unit saves the day. No more crawling under my desk to switch connections. Excellent work StarTech!

Has worked well for almost a year
I work from home and have three different computers I switch between. I tried a handful of cheap USB switching devices that sucked before I finally decided to spring for a pricier device, and I settled on this StarTech switcher. The only devices I have connected to it are a keyboard and mouse, but it works great for that.

Works as Expected - Few Annoyances
I have a triple monitor setup for my Windows 10 gaming PC, but wanted to dedicate one of my monitors for a Linux Mint 19.1 miniPC to do some coding and scripting for home use. However, I only wanted one keyboard and one mouse on my desk at all times. So, I searched for different kinds of KVM's and found this USB Switch! I absolutely love this thing, it worked right out of the box for both Windows and Linux Mint. It's quite fast switching between the two and I have two extra USB A ports and two extra USB B ports, so if I wanted to expand then I could. Now, the few annoyances I have with this is the 5V plug-in for extra power and the actual plastic finish on the top.The 5V plug-in isn't needed if you're using general USB devices and I believe if you're plugged into USB 3.0 ports for the power delivery from the USB bus you'll be more than fine. But it is quite annoying having an extra port and not getting a power adapter for it.The plastic on the top of the product is a glossy plastic. The rest of the product is matte plastic. So immediately once I took it out of the package my fingerprints got all over it and when I tried to wipe it off scratch marks ensued. So absolute terrible design aesthetic in my opinion. Completely ruins the look of it.Overall, if you're looking for a 4 PC, 4 USB Port hub that switches quick, then this is my recommendation. Amazing product and would no doubt buy another if I need to. Hopefully StarTech stops with the glossy plastic finishes, absolutely no one on the consumer side wants glossy plastic, so please stop using it.

Great product, would buy again, recommend to others frequently
I purchased this item back in May 2022 to be able to use the same keyboard/mouse between my work and home systems when WFH was mandated. I have used it daily since and have had zero issues (knock on wood) but can say that if I did have any issues, I would purchase this again with no hesitation.Highly recommend the 4-port version because you never know when you may need to connect another device. I normally only use it on 2 devices, but occasionally I plug in my MS Surface, as an example.

This thing is great!
I started poking around Amazon for a solid USB KVM for my dual laptop setup. This should've been easy right? Most products that I found (yes, I read reviews) were tinged with all sort of negative comments. This sort of thing should be easy and just work, right? This guys does! This thing is super simple, as it should be and does exactly what it's supposed to very well. I love it! Works flawlessly switching between my two laptops (running through my Kensington docking station). It's super small, and I actually stuck it on the wall with 3M strips just off my desk. The only complaint I think any nit-pickers could find would be the cords. As one would expect, it features long connecting cables, which is good. I don't see this as problem as it's easy enough to just kind of tuck them behind the desk or laptop, but someone might appreciate the feedback, if that's a concern for you. Shorter cords would really limit reach, etc. I actually like this, but again...just putting it out there. I love this product. I even like the blue indicator lights on the front for switching between devices. Super simple! Does exactly what I expected, and does it well (fast). If you're in the market for something like this, based on my experience, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!
