HP DVD-RW Drive - External (F2B56AA)

Not sure why they sell laptops without a DVD drive these days, but bought a new one and no drive. I purchased this because sometimes I just want to watch an old movie I have on DVD. This drive works well and was easy to use, plug and play. Of course, need to download some software to play a movie, which is easy to find and many free ones, so no problem there. Good price and good value for the money.

Works great for burning Dreamcast games! I bought this because the cheap Rioddas burner I bought died after the first disc I burned. This one not only burns great and consistently, but I don’t get any write errors! Right out of the box it wrote 65 games that had no errors and worked perfectly. Not sure why people are claiming it’s a loud drive because it writes extremely quiet. I was amazed to see even at 24x write speed it’s burning games without a single error. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase, if you can buy it now while it’s 60% off it’s a great deal! I’m currently using the 100 stack of CMC pro taiyo yuden CDRs with it and it’s extremely reliable. Great design, compact, quiet, and efficient right out of the box. 10/10 worth every penny.

Works very well. Easy to set up. I'm not a very techy person and I had not problem setting it up. Happy customer.

It works and read just fine with no issues

Very great DVD drive. Had it for 2 or 3 years so far with no issues. Very compact and easy to hide under a desk. Best budget DVD drive on the market, also burns discs great. No loud noises or anything.

Starting out with 4 stars as I thoroughly test the unit. It is replacing a third party brand that while worked for some time, recently failed to burn, though it would play back. Extensive testing proved that; a repair on a low priced device was not worth the effort, so an HP brand was bought to compliment an HP 840 G8 laptop. So far it has burned just fine, and plays both audio CD and video DVD correctly. Do not expect compatibility with Blu-Ray format, this is not a Blu-ray player nor burner. I will up to 5 stars if everything continues to function as it should. All in all, you should be better off with this than a lower priced knockoff that may not stand the test of time. Upping to five stars. It is doing so it should.

Came quickly, works as described, plug and play with my Macbook. It's a little noisy but not anything unusual. Seems reasonably well built and if it lasts I'll be happy.

My god man .... I would have paid a couple bucks more for a longer cable. If you have a tower either buy another cable or buy something else.

Overall, New what I was getting from a trusted brand, build quality was good and the overall finish of the product looked professional, operating fine - Laptop compatible with no set up issues - was plug and play. Overall, am very happy with this product.
