Best solution for my home-office setup (MacBook Pro 2012 and Win 10 laptop)
I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro running macOS Mojave 10.14 that I love and don't want to replace at all, especially after I've made some upgrades for the hard drive and RAM (SSD and 16GB RAM). It feels like a brand-new laptop once again and the is no need to upgrade.I'd been looking for a docking station that would work for both the MacBook Pro and my work laptop because I work from home sometimes, and this product is the ultimate solution for that. My home-office setup is very simple: a 23-inch monitor with HDMI cable, a mechanical keyboard, and a Bluetooth Microsoft mouse.I received the product today and started setting it up right away. The setup process was very easy and took a few minutes:1- Download the driver for Mac and Win 102- Restart the system3- Plug in all your peripherals to the docking station4- Plug in the USB 3.0 to your laptop ( I completed the setup on both the MacBook and Win laptop)5- Enjoy the setupWhen you download the driver for Mac, you will find different folders inside for each OS version starting from 10.4 up to 10.14. In each folder, you will find the driver for your OS version. For windows, you will find a couple of folders: one for Win Vista and one for 7,8, and 10. Pretty straight forward in my opinion.

Best purchase of the year!
This dock saved me. I needed a dock for my laptop but couldn’t find any good USB A docks anywhere. I happened to find this one upon doing some research I decided to try it. This was the best purchase I could have ever made. I installed the software and connected the dock and everything worked flawlessly from then on. I haven’t had any issues with it whatsoever and it’s been almost a month now since I started using it.

Better than my integrated dell docking station (mostly)
Like everyone else, I got this so I could work from home and not have to unplug all my cords if I wanted to hang out on my couch rather than at my desk.I have a Dell laptop that has its own docking station specific to the model where you can snap the laptop in and out as you need to. I recently went and grabbed that from work but once I got it home, I discovered it added so much extra size to my laptop that I no longer had room for my dual monitors on my desk. I tried placing it down on a small side table and it was too big even for that so I decided to get a docking station that did not have to be attached to my laptop in order to work.I've had good luck with StarTech products so decided to give this a try. It has a great selection of ports to accommodate different types of displays (HDMI, DVI, VGA etc). It even comes with an adapter for VGA to DVI if you need that. Lots of USB ports -- 2 of them are powered. One of the "monitors" I'm using is actually an All-In-One computer complete with its own B&O sound bar so really wanted to use that. It was a little tricky getting that configured to work with MS Teams -- our conferencing platform but finally got it to work... it was recognized as a separate USB Audio and USB microphone device. Also, for some reason, the dongle for my keyboard wasn't recognized using one of the USB ports in the docking station but I had a USB hub and plugged that in and it works fine.I think the most annoying thing is if the laptop needs to be powered down... rather than being able to power on from the docking station, I have to open the laptop and use the power button there and log in using the laptop keyboard until everything comes up and the docking station is recognized. But that's a relatively minor inconvenience -- much less inconvenient than having the whole darn laptop and docking station taking up precious real estate on my desk!If and when I wind up having to go back into the office, I'll take my standard issue dock back there so I can have one for home and one for work.If you want to maximize your display options and workspace, this is a good way to do it.[LCAR]

Unreliable intermittent operation
When it works, its fine, and the indicator light stays on, steady, but when you undock and the redock, it does not always work, the indicator light flashes. Sometimes it re-Docks just fine, and other times it just seems dead. I have not been able to identify a pattern to this behaviorI need it to be reliable for telework

Great buy!
This product has worked great. No issues and easy to hook up. Customer service was great when helping me select the correct device. They even called me after the purchase and followed up to make sure that everything was working properly!

Does everything I wanted it to
I purchased this in order to extend the display from our MacBook Air onto two monitors. Downloaded the drives, plugged it all in, and done. Works great and would definitely recommend this docking station.

Just a Linux test
If you want a Windows function review, please look elsewhere. The vendor states it is only for Windows, but I wanted to see just how much functionality it had with Linux until I have a functioning Windows machine again (if I ever do that).I can safely say there is very little functionality with Linux, as promised by the vendor. Apparently, almost all the functions, even network connectivity, requires the special Windows drivers. The only generic function which would work was USB charging (in the proper port) and some USB functionality for external flash drives in some ports.Fit and finish seem okay, and the unit seems solidly made and not flimsy.
