Schaum's Outline of Differential Equations, 3ed (Schaum's Outline Series)

Excellent for learning Differential Equations.
My differential equations class used this as the textbook. This guide is short, sweet, and to the point. For each chapter there are a few pages dedicated to presenting the methods, giving examples and solutions, and then a variety of practice problems ranging from easy to hard in order to gradually develop your understanding.Best-value textbook I've ever bought. My professor was terrible (wouldn't - we asked - speak up so the class could hear, was monotone, often refused to answer clarification questions because he felt they were stupid or unnecessary, and taught mostly through writing things on the board, turning around and saying, "right?" to the class.) and the only way that I passed the class was because of this excellent guide.

Extraordinarily helpful!
Wow, what a useful tool. This book pretty much saved me from my DiffEQ class. The textbook we're using is pretty terrible, but this workbook makes everything so simple. I wouldn't recommend using it solely to learn DiffEQ, but as a supplement to a lecture it is terrific. Plenty of examples, well thought out explanations, and few errors make this a terrific workbook for any DiffEQ student!

Contains Annoying, Time-Wasting Trick Questions
I've been enjoying brushing up on differential equations with this book, but SOME OF THE PROBLEMS ARE TRICK QUESTIONS. This is extremely annoying. The authors will ask you to solve an equation, and then after you spend fifteen minutes wondering why the solution isn't coming, you give up and look at the answer, which says there is no solution. Come on. No one learns anything from that. It's a complete waste of my time.I'm going through it and looking at the ends of the answers in advance, and if it says anything indicating the problems are impossible, I'm writing "TRICK QUESTION" in pencil so I don't get bogged down in idiocy.Another thing: you may end up with integrals that aren't trivial, so if you're not great at integrating on the fly, keep a table handy.Other than that, I like the book.

Just what I needed
I'm a little more than half way through and I can solve many different types of differential equations. I have found the book easy to follow, and challenging enough to keep me from coasting through on auto pilot. Just like all the other Schaum's books I have read, this one is doing a great job of helping me learn the subject matter.

Very small font
The print is very small, so you need patience. It doesn't seem to be the most user friendly...But it's awesome because it solves problems out for you. I just wish it was more spaced out and easier to read.
