Great Pad for such a reasonable price.
I purchased this pad for use with a Dutch Army Hooped Bivy, as I needed something that provides ample insulation and support without being overly thick and taking up too much space inside the low profile shelter. This Gear Doctors self inflating pad was the perfect solution. Itās very comfortable, inflates quickly, easily and is relatively compact when rolled up in its storage sack. I did follow the āfirst inflationā instructions which are simple but helpful. And having used the pad on multiple overnight camps, I am extremely impressed with its quality and performance. This was definitely a good purchase. Highly recommend!

A good night's sleep
These pads are very warm, quiet and sturdy. Even as side sleepers, they don't bottom out for my spouse or myself. The self inflation works well - twenty minutes to prepare and eat dinner is more than enough. Just don't absentmindedly leave your pack on it while it's supposed to be inflating. The pad is also surprisingly easy to squeeze out and pack up in the morning - there are even instructions on the bag in case you forget how it folds. Despite nights on sharp rocky ground, these pads have held up well so far, but it's also nice to know there are patches in the bag just in case.Although heavier and bulkier than many of the inflatable backpacking pads, these are surprisingly packable as self-inflating options go. My spouse consistently finds the comfort well worth the extra ounces pack weight. I might pick my inflatable for more strenuous trips, but it's case by case, and we both like these pads for car camping.I'm really glad I took a chance on these. Certainly for the price, they are an amazing bargain.

Good pad but a little disappointed
My dog likes it, but he also will sleep on concrete šI bought this to replace my inflatable sleeping pad that I had recently lost. I've always wanted to try a self-inflating foam pad so I thought I'd give this one a try. I took it on a 2-day backpacking trip.1) I was a little surprised at how big the packed size was when it first arrived. It was almost the same size as my sleeping bag! I was definitely expecting a bit more compact, so it took up a good amount of space in my backpack.2) It's a heavier pad at 2 lbs, especially for backpacking. I knew that going in though and was hoping the extra weight would be worth the comfort.3) It was not. I am a side sleeper and my hips would hit the ground no matter how much air I added manually. (I'm 5'7" 165 lb athletic build with wider hips/glutes). I'm not sure if I had just gotten a defective one or my hips are just more sensitive to hard surfaces. Either way, because i was so close to the ground, the pad's R-Value did not hold true for me and I was cold all night (temps were very mild, maybe low 50s).Conclusion: I was definitely a little disappointed bc I had such high hopes from the reviews and was super excited to try it out. The pad was made with good quality and is comfy if you're not a side sleeper, or someone with bigger hips. I would recommend it for camping rather than backpacking though, due to size and weight. It does pack up easily and has a good length to it, but it is pretty narrow. It was perfect for me in my 1 person tent but my 6'2" 220 lb boyfriend would have trouble sleeping comfortably on this thing.

Super impressed - totally worth it.
I have a high end self inflating mat that is 6x the cost of this one that I use for ultralight back packing. This one is about 8 oz. heavier and packs a bit bigger than the one I use for ultralight backpacking. But for the money, this pad is totally worth it.It's more comfortable than my high end pad.I bought two of these for my kids for car camping and my kids were totally happy with it. When they grow, I think they'll be able to make this work for backpacking trips. The self inflating, is pretty solid. I think I only needed about 10 breaths to top up the mat to get it to full inflation. Each night, I might top it up with one breath.Totally happy with it. Can't believe this is available at this price point.
