Works Fine w A Little Light Oil
Thanks and kudos to another reviewer for the idea! Tight to load and use until tried a small couple of drops of light, non gummy oil (EWL or GS synthetic) at base of knob in a couple of places. Exercised a few times w/o cartridges, then a few more w DUMMY cartridges. Now turns as well as other brands do. Can use one-handed with off hand while keeping firing grip. Have oversize grips on my SP101, fits as well any either of the other brands. Some folks like speedloaders in which rounds "jiggle" and some don't. I'm among those who don't so wanted to replace my HKS and 5 Star. I like Safariland loaders but they don't make them for this gun, seem to pretty much be an afterthought product for them these days. Like: large knob; angled shape easier to grab vice round on HKS, compact design, all metal like 5 star but rounds held tightly.

Works well with J-frame
Great quality product and the only reason I do not give it full 5 stars is that it is still a very tight fit with J-frame S&W. The compact design does help greatly but it is a tight fit. I can see that it would be a great speedloader for other 5 round revolversโฆespecially if you combine it with a speed loader ammo box that can further expedite loading process.

the negative reviews are the TRUTH !!
this thing is/was JUNK! i stupidly ignored all the (many) negative reviews and bought this. it was built so poorly, the negative reviews are the TRUTH it doesn't grip the bullets! my HKS blows it away! (unintended pun!)

Be speedy with this reloader.
Very nice build and quality product. Small and compact but works well. I like its all metal compared to a SKS plastic body speed loader. Will get more of these in the future. Carrys well in a pocket. Good product and well made. Would recommend.

Works great with my early 2000โs Taurus Model 85
I have a couple of SafariLand plastic speed loaders and have never gotten them to work just right with my Taurus 5-shot .38 Special snubnose. All the fiddling to release the cartridges into the wheel removed the โspeedโ from speed loader. I was wary when ordering this Pachmyr aluminum speed loader, but what a pleasant surprise upon removing the loader from the Amazon box, loading the five cartridges and, actually, speed loading them into my wheel gun. If the .38 were my primary carry weapon, Iโd order another loader, but since itโs my backup to my G19X, the one speed loader satisfies my needs. Blessings ๐

Knob is too big for a S&W 442 Airweight 38sp
Pros: The Pachmayr 02650 is beautifully made, exquisitely machined, and a thing of beauty. If it worked well with my revolver I'd be proud to show it off. It may work with most of the revolvers listed in the description, but it does not work well with my S&W 442 Airweight 38sp. Cons: The knob size is too large, and doesn't allow any space for my fingers to rotate with the knob next to the frame / grip of a S&W 442 Airweight 38sp revolver. Getting the movement to rotate is a bit stiff. IF you can pinch it hard enough to turn the knob with a very short (approximately) 45 degrees of rotation then you MIGHT be able to release the cartridges. Doing this with your left hand while holding the gun in your right hand, fingers pinching the cylinder open, is only practical for someone with rather strong fingers, and I'm no weakling. I'm not saying it CAN'T work with the S&W 442, but there are better options: If you have a S&W 442 Airweight 38sp, then the simpler solution would be to try the HKS 36-A Revolver Speedloader. I ordered one at the same time, and it works like a charm. To compare materials: The HKS is hard plastic with an aluminum knob, whereas the Pachmayr 02650 Competition Revolver Speedloader is aluminum with an aluminum knob. The mechanical parts of the HKS are much simpler, while the Pachmayr mechanicals are more sophisticated in design. That makes the Pachmayr sound good - and it is - but not for my S&W 442 Airweight 38sp. The HKS is faster to fill with cartridges and lock them in. The HKS is not as bulky as the Pachmayr, and weighs less, which is nice if you are going to carry several. However, I think the most important and immediate consideration is that the it is easier to maneuver the cartridges into the cylinder, and finally, it is VERY quick and easy to release the cartridges, and get the speedloader out of the way, and get back to business. Oh yes, and you can buy two HKS for the price of one Pachmayr. That's a nice bonus.

Fits Ruger LCR with either finger groove or bantam boot grip
The HKS is too fat and the 5 Star works but the rounds are very loose and flop around when held by the speed loader. This model holds the cartridges securely, without flopping or rattling around. There is even a cushion ring at the bottom to dampen the cartridge rims from clanging around. Fits the LCR 38/357 with either the standard finger groove grip or with the bantam boot grip installed. Best speed loader for the 357 LCR I've found to date.
