Presto 05461 Stainless Steel Pro Fry Immersion Element Deep Fryer

The basket on our old Presto fryer broke and I was not excited to replace it. I went with Presto because it is a brand that I trust. Presto has been in the fry business since I was a kid. This unit is very sturdy and is very much like the one I replaced. It comes apart for easy cleaning. Use liquid oil and you will be able to just pour the oil out when it is time to replace. The element lifts out so you can really get in to scrub the vessel. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes fried food at home. It is a nice size. We were able to make a whole bag on French fries in just two batches. The only thing I find different from my previous frier is that there is not cord storage in the back. That is not a big deal to me.

It heats up quickly and keeps a steady temperature, which makes frying much easier and less messy than using a pot on the stove. I’ve used it for fries, chicken, and shrimp, and everything comes out evenly cooked and crispy. The stainless steel design looks nice on the counter and feels durable. I also like that the heating element lifts out, which makes cleaning much simpler than I expected. It’s not overly complicated to use, so even if you’re not a big cook, you can figure it out right away. If you want a dependable fryer for home use without spending a fortune, this is a solid choice.

For years I did not want to take up my already packed kitchen cabinets with a fryer. I eat healthy and I would just use a pot and oil. I didn't feel the need--until I watched a friend fry up some appetizers far more easily and perfectly and wondered why I didn't have a fryer. Let's face it, the key to perfectly fried foods is the temp of the oil. You can't guesstimate that and you don't have to with this. When it's the right temp for frying (which you can adjust but it has a chart with it--pretty much turn the knob up all the way and everything fries perfectly if you want the easy way--it's a no brainer) the light goes off. If you fry a batch of something and it cools the oil down, the light is back on so you know when it heats back up to being perfectly ready. If you have to add more oil, you will also know when it gets to frying temp. No more guesswork. The basket just makes everything so much easier too--no scooping anything out of hot oil...just lift and dump out on the paper towel. Diet is all about balance and when I entertain I find myself using this every time. I can have something cooking in the oven and fry up instant hot appetizers or you can make a protein and fry up some fries, you can get fancy like the Texas wontons I made placed over guacamole and garnished with red pepper jelly (but still super fast to make--just stuff cut eggroll wrappers with cream cheese, Mexican cheese and green chiles), or shrimp and okra beignets...or funnel cakes and donuts for the kids. It's a treat maker and a go to gadget for party food and entertaining, let's face it. Plus it will pay for itself when you do things like make your own fish sticks, french fries, donuts, etc. You also eliminate the chemicals and preservatives and everything tastes better. Chili cheese fries? Get yourself a spiral slicer and you can make spiral cut potatoes literally in seconds. fried mozzarella? You will never eat store bought again. Get a fryer cookbook--the Southern Living one is excellent, and you will be as addicted to this as I am. Plus when you invite people over for dinner they love to watch you use it. And want one. This one is the perfect size and heats fast and fries evenly. If it broke, I'd buy the exact same one again. I make my own taco and tostado shells from leftover tortillas but my favorite thing is to make soups and slice tortilla ribbons and fry them up--great on soups and salads and better than croutons! Looks prettier too!

This fryer works really well and heats up quickly. It does a great job cooking food evenly and gives that perfect crispy finish. The only downside is that it can be a bit hard to maintain and clean, especially after multiple uses. You have to stay on top of the upkeep. Overall, it’s a good product, just requires some effort to keep it in top shape.

I purchased this to enable me to fry outdoors for larger family gatherings. This product worked as described for a great price. I was able to fry 10 pounds of shrimp and it took me less than 25 minutes. Setup was simple, and the oil was hot, and ready to fry in less than 15 minutes. The basket holds quite a bit of shrimp and the ability to use it to shake the excess corn flour off was a huge help with clean up. Speaking of clean up, all I did was let it cool, and poured the oil in a secondary container for disposal, easy as that. Washed the oil reservoir with warm water and dawn and it was clean as a whistle. Make sure to clean the element by wiping with a rag, do not submerge. Product not ionly saved me time in the frying process, but clean up was a breeze, and being outside, no odors to get rid of in the house.

A nice deep fryer, simple to use. Changing oil isn't that messy. Remove the basket and heating element. Place them on something that will catch the cooking oil that clings to them. Get a 1 gallon jug and funnel, remove the tank with the old cooking oil and empty it into the jug. If you have a dishwasher place the basket and tank in the dishwasher and wash on the heavy-duty cycle. DO NOT put the heating coil and controller in the dishwasher wash by hand.

This is a great deep fryer. I have been using it for several months now and have had no issues at all. It has a nice large size so I can fry enough at one time for our family of 5, but is not overly bulky and stays on the countertop nicely without being in the way. I have never tested the temperatures with a thermometer, but it seems to be accurate judging by the efficiency of cooking with it - certain types of food just will not turn out properly if the heat is not correct, so you can usually tell if it is off by more than a few degrees. It produces perfect results, so I have no reason to believe that the temps are off, at all. I was a little worried at first about the quality, since the stainless steel body that you see is actually a surround piece, but it has held up well and proven to be great quality. The price is great for such great performance. I bought this when there were no reviews at all, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I am very glad that I picked this one. Cooking capacity is perfect and performance is excellent. I bought my mom the same one and she loves hers too. No problems at all.

Great product great price, heats up fast, and holds heat well. Basket is perfect for me and my wife. Cooks fast and even. fryer basket is plus will sit in oil slightly if filled to max level. But definitely good product for price point.

Llego antes del tiempo de entrega algo que me gusto mucho. A mi mujer le encantó la freidora. Aún no la probamos pero se ve muy eficiente. Esperaba recibir el empaque con algún envoltorio de Amazon así como lo hacen los amarillos, pero de ahí todo bien ya estamos pensando como estrenarla. Estrenada con papas fritas,, excelente producto...

I would not recommend buying this deep fryer if you are in Europe, as the plug is not compatible even with the use of an extension. Additionally, the manual suggests a frying time of 13 to 18 minutes for chicken, but I found that I needed to fry the chicken for more than 20 minutes and it was still raw.

May not be worth a 5 star review, but it does what i bought it for. As long as the heating element works, is good for me. Am using it outdoors. Not suggesting to use it indoor!! The filter is useless, but then again, aren't them all? The thermostat is also useless. Instructions are for french fries 375F 10-12 min. Good luck with that!! Oil was way over 425F and after 4 min. fries where almost burned! But that is minor, as far as i am concerned. Try and learn. Set at 320F, light goes out, potatoes go in, 4 min. later have fries the way I want them. WAY better than at any fast food chain.
