Perfect.
I usually varnish my paintings (mostly seascapes) with a matte varnish, but it doesn't always bring out the depth of colour.I definitely don't want to use gloss, so gave this satin finish a try as a compromise.I like it - it's a doddle to apply, dries quite quickly, doesn't have an overpowering smell (but do use in a ventilated space) and has a decent finish.Personally I will be using this varnish from now on.Definitely recommend.I hope you find this review helpful, thanks for reading.

Windor and Newton, can never complain
Great varnish, worth the price. I am using it as a protective finishing coat.

I know you shouldn't!
I paint gouache pictures, which normally would not be varnished, but I have some that will finish up in a humid atmosphere. So (full of trepidation), I used a spray fixer which luckily had no effect of the paintings, but could still leave the paintings vulnerable. So I decided to varnish them, little realising that this product is intended for use on oil painting or acrylics. However, I loaded some into an airbrush and tried it on an old gouache painting and it was absolutely fine, so I now know it can be carefully used on gouache, will make them more damp proof and provide some UV protection. It has no noticeable effect on colours so, win, win.

Great product
Love the satin finish as most of the artwork I produce is either wildlife or pet portraiture where a gloss finish is undesirable. I would like to see this in a bigger bottle as this one only lasts for a few paintings 20"x16" in size.

You have to wait 6 months for oil paintings to dry out before use!
I have used this varnish successfully in the past to seal my acrylic paintings, but I didn't realise that, for oil paintings, you have to wait for six months to ensure the paint is completely dry. Sadly, as I needed to exhibit my oil painting quite soon, I am unable to use this.

Good quality
Second lot of this I've gotten. I have used on oil paintings and ink painted wood and painted furniture and I am very pleased with the finish. Maybe not the cheapest thing to paint a bookcase with but it looks good 😂
