Day It Rained Hearts

We love, "The Day it Rained Hearts." Discovered it at the library 3 years ago, and finally bought it this year when we were late to checking out Valentine's books, we love it that much! I like to read the story, and then talk about why she made each valentine for that specific friend. We then make Valentines together. I'll ask my daughter who she wants to send a valentine to, and then make a card for that person in mind, just like in the book. Each year she looks forward to making Valentines to send to others and reading this story.

Such a cute book to read to my class! Love how it helps show kindness to animals! 😀

Fun book for preschool and lots of follow up!

Cornelia Augusta (or is it Augusta Cornelia?) is a thoughtful main character who takes a surprise that life has given her and uses her time, energy and imagination to make the most of it. These are wonderful traits to promote to children. Also the book doesn't over-explain why Cornelia gave a particular valentine to a particular friend, so there is room for your little reader to come to her or his own conclusions. It also incorporates the themes of seizing the moment and accepting change (it only ever rains hearts once) which is a lovely life lesson as well.

Cute story - short & sweet. There’s not a whole lot to it. Great for younger kinds.

This is a great book! I used it for Valentine’s Day this school year, my students loved it!

I ordered this for my granddaughter and her mom said it was a beautiful book. My daughter who is a K teacher recommended it to me.
