The BEST cat scratching post ever!! I love them! If you only have room for one scratching post, this should be it. Super easy to assemble. They’re extremely sturdy, extremely high quality, and last a long, long time. Because they hold up so well, they look fine in our living room. And they don’t take up much space. I have five of these around the house & have bought them for friends. I bought the first one about 15 years ago. It was about eight years before I bought another, so it’s seen the most use. It has been abused by 5 cats, been through two house moves, & it is still in use (I probably should replace the sisal, but the cats don’t seem to care that it’s starting to sag & thin a bit). The cats love to claw at these from below or sitting on top & bending down to claw them. They use them to stretch. They rub on them. They like to sit on top & feel tall. They play with each other on them (one cat on top, one below). They like to bring their toys to play around them. They use them as part of their zoomies obstacle course, & they have NEVER knocked one over. They were even tall & sturdy enough for my male Maine Coon. I have them next to furniture that the cats would otherwise claw, & the cats go for the post every time. I cannot say enough about these posts. If I could give 10 stars, I would.

been searching all over for a tall and stable cat scratcher for my baby. This one is absolutely PERFECT! it's tall, durable AND most importantly, stable! It's absolutely great for my 10lb baby to stretch, attach and sit on. the base is extremely heavy for a cat to move so i'm not worried at all about it rocking or tipping in the slightest. putting it together was super easy too. my cat loves it! I will definitely be buying again once this one is all scratched out

When my dad was no longer able to take care of his ol' cat-buddy, we inherited him. While we were delighted to invite the little guy into our home, he had an impressive track record of demolishing every stick of wood furniture & door frame in my dad's house. He was the undefeated champion of lumber destruction. We picked this up based on the incredible reviews, but we weren't expecting miracles. We figured we'd start here, then get some ugly acrylic corner protectors to add our door frames later. Well, guess who saved about $200 in unsightly cat-proofing for the house! We put it together, which took all of 2 minutes, gave it a couple of blasts of catnip mist, and introduced it to the woodworking-slayer. He cozied right up to it, nuzzling it to scent mark it, then immediately stretched to full height and started scratching away! He's a tall boy, too, and strong as an ox, but he has no trouble working it over without tipping it. He visits it multiple times a day, and it is literally the only thing in the house he'll sharpen his claws on, even ignoring the wall-mounted sisal post we installed around the corner from his cat box. I'm floored that we were able to correct 15+ years of deeply ingrained bad behavior with this one smart purchase, but, there you have it! While every cat is different, and your mileage may vary, here are a few tips we've found for successfully introducing this scratching post: 1.) If you're placing this on an un-carpeted floor, as we did, add at least 4 big rubber stick-on feet to the base for added stability, to keep it from sliding. Cats won't scratch something they think might tip over on them. (the base is very wide on this one, so I don't think tipping is a danger). 2.) Rub some catnip on the fabric, or better yet, spray it with some catnip mist (SmartyKat makes an excellent one). Place their favorite toys nearby. 3.) Give your buddy a tasty treat and lots of pats & praise the first several times you catch them using it. Cats may act like rebels who play by their own rules, but they secretly want you to be pleased with them. :-) This scratching post is very well-made, and seems built to last. I'm more than happy to buy another to replace it once this starts showing some wear & tear, but I really don't think that will be for a very long time. The minimalist design and neutral colors keep it from sticking out like a sore thumb, too. He loves this thing, and our woodworking remains safely intact. Hopefully you'll find this scratching post a godsend too!

Our cats love this! We have a HUGE 20 lbs cat, who is not fat but tall and big - he is double the size of his brother (who is a normal sized cat). He is almost as big as our mini golden doodle. He is practically a dog who scratches stuff if not given a sturdy scratching post! And both our boys are big scratchers. So, we need a tall and durable cat scratcher. This post delivers! They have NEVER knocked this over and love it. And let me tell you they have tried to knock this down with their super aggressive scratching! Before this, I couldn’t find a cat scratcher that was durable enough, sturdy enough, and tall enough. This thing has saved my furniture! I also love that it doesn’t have carpet on it - why? Why put a dust and hair collecting material on something for a cat? No thank you! Only thing is I wish I could replace just the scratcher part, but you can’t win them all! I just buy a new one once they kill this thing - which takes years even though it takes a multiple times a day, multiple cat boy beating! I used to buy other scratching things as well, but no longer do as my cats adore this! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈‍⬛

Both of my cats absolutely love the scratching post. The wide base allows them to fully extend their bodies and Claw all the way from the bottom up to the top of the post without it tipping over. There is a very slight wobble to it depending on the intensity of your cat scratching, my male cat definitely gets more physical and the post holds up well to his abuse. You might even find your cat shimmying from the bottom all the way up to the top I'm sitting up at the very top of the post. Most importantly, my cats have stopped clawing at sections of the carpet and even my furniture since the post allows them to really dig in and they get kudos for me for using it. Every time they use it I tell them they are good kitty and give them love, positive reinforcement. When I first brought it into the home I laid it on its side and rubbed a bit of catnip into it just to have the scent and attract them. Then I assembled it (super easy btw) and stood it up. Everybody was very curious about what had just been brought into the house, and when they saw me mock scratching it they both immediately came over and began to do the same thing. I have it placed in a high kitty traffic area of my home, so every time they pass by it, they will do a few claws some stretching and then walk away, and the next time they come by they'll do the same thing. It certainly gets a lot of use. I've had this for over a couple months now and it has still held up very well. The sisal material wrapped around the actual post is very dense and not just wrapped rope like other posts, it is basically woven around the wood, only slightly fraying with pretty heavy use everyday from my kitties. My mother saw how much my cats love the post and saw how good of quality the item was, she asked me to order her one; both her senior cat and her young kitten love to stretch themselves and Claw this post. It is very amusing when one kitty is using it, and that attracts the other one to come over and start using it too. So you have one cat on each side, then they notice each other, then they start playful pawing at each other from across the sides of the post. Very cute. I'm not one for writing reviews, especially giving anything 5 stars, but this was very excellent and I highly recommend this scratching post for your cat's health and happiness, and your sanity.

There are some great things about this scratching post, and a couple things that might not be obvious that some people will want to know. Some of the "pros" will also be "cons" for some of you. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT: - VERY tall! Almost twice as tall as most others I've seen & bought. My cats are BIG and this is the first post that lets them fully stretch. - As scratch posts go, this is well made. The materials feel stronger than most others I've purchased and the sisal is MUCH more tightly knit together than the standard "rope in a circle" posts. This unit looks and feels like it is tightly carpeted rather than wound. - Easy assembly. Although it still arrives in a few pieces and requires assembly with a couple of screws (like most do) it is very easy to put together. All you need is a screw driver and about 2 minutes, done. - Appearance (the good part). This looks much nicer in a living room than the common circular / rope post. It looks more like a piece of furniture meant for a living room. WHAT I DON'T LIKE AS MUCH ABOUT IT (and this is being really picky): - The wood used doesn't look like real wood (as it did in some of the photos when I purchased it). It is clearly particle-board with some varnish coating. - Appearance (the not so good part) - The pictures in the description (at the time I bought it) did not clearly show the VERY obvious seam down the middle of two sides and ALSO through the base. The base is two separate pieces of wood, and after assembly the seams are very visible and very pronounced. Also; there are two VERY visible screws / holes on the top piece of wood. These facts take a bit away from the otherwise really nice appearance. At first I was very disappointed about the seams and the screw-holes at the top being so visible, but I kind of got over it fairly quickly. - The sisal fiber is very slick - as if coated, with kind of a "plastic" sort of feel to it, rather than the usual raw non-coated sisal rope feel of a common cat scratch post. - The sisal fiber coating is so tight against it that at first it seems it's not obvious to some cats that it's meant for the same thing. They have a harder time digging their claws into it than plain sisal rope. UP FOR DEBATE / WILL VARY: - It's easy to tell that some cats will not take to this like a common scratch post. My cats were unsure of it at first when I replaced it into their old common post spot. For the first 5 days I was really worried that they weren't going to use it, but after that they started to (phew!). We have now had this for about 28 days, and during the past 16 days they've started to use it more. - For some folks the large size of this might not be suitable. It caught me a bit off-guard, but fortunately we had a good spot for it. For some of you it might not be practical due to the sheer size. It takes up considerably more space than most common posts. - Don't throw your old post away just yet. I'd recommend putting your old one in a different room so your cats still have that to go to if they don't like the unusual coating and pattern of the sisal (and in case they don't like the slick wood base as opposed to carpeted ones). - You could possibly hide the screws in the top by placing some kind of decoration on it (maybe a vase) but then you take the chance of your cats getting bonked over the head with whatever you set on the top, as the surface is slick / varnished particle board. - I think the coated sisal fiber and it's pattern make it harder for cats to get their claws in and do what they would naturally do with the common sisal rope types. (My cats, however, are adapting). SUMMARY: This is clearly a higher quality post than most and it's obvious why it is a bit pricey. It is really nice! On the other hand, I think a bit more could have been done to hide the seams and that the screws in the top. As long as you realize that the seams are very visible, and that it is much larger than "normal", and that you're taking a gamble on whether or not your cats will like it, I'd say give it a try. It's definitely nice, but maybe not exactly what some folks might be expecting in terms of appearance and materials. Ultimately my cats get to decide; and they have decided they'll use it and we were "allowed" to replace the old fashioned post with this. But we still have the old one in another room, and they still go to that instead sometimes. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. * I've taken some detailed photos to post if Amazon will let me add them to Customer Photos on this listing. It didn't offer the option before I started typing this, but maybe it will allow me to after this review is approved. If not, then I'd say there are some things about it that someone doesn't want you to see before you buy it ;-)

This scratching post is perfect for cats who like to use things like this. It is worth the price when you consider that it should last a very, very long time and due to how heavy duty and stable it is compared to others. It also claims that it is made with sisal fabric that is of superior quality to sisal rope. This was very easy to assemble and feels very good quality compared to some cheaper options out there. Another great thing is how tall it is, it allows even grown cats to stand up and stretch their muscles while they scratch, which they enjoy and is good for them. So far they've not had issues with getting their claws stuck. This scratcher is very stable. My cat is able to even climb on it without it tipping, which is in part due to the large square base. Even when it isn't being climbed, I would think a cat would like for it to be stable while scratching on it rather than wobbling around as some cheaper posts can do. Though if pricing is a priority, you can get cheaper posts that will serve their purpose well enough. All it took to get him to use it for the first time was for me to scratch on it with my own nails because he associates the sound with other scratchers (like the smaller ones on his cat tower) and also because he likes to try to catch my hand when I do that on things. Once he knew it was for him, he uses it every day and our other cats do to maybe a slightly lesser extent. A cat may not spend a long time on it at once, but they definitely seem to appreciate it being there and being able to do so when they want to or when they enter the room it's in. Some cats don't seem to care as much for scratching posts in general, even if they like to scratch rugs and furniture, so if that's the case, this might not change that. But if you have a cat that does enjoy things like this, I definitely recommend this one.

This is the nee plus ultra of cat scratching posts. My cat adores it. It does not wobble or shimmy across the room like his last post. He can stretch out to his full length when scratching and so far after two weeks of regular use it shows no signs of wear. Sparky shreads most cat posts within days. I am delighted with it and so is my cat. Thanks from both of us!

I have four fairly large cats (ranging from 6kg to 9kg) who have tested this product for me. This product sat in my Amazon shopping cart for some time while I pondered whether it was crazy to spend so much money on a scratching pole. After having had the pole for approximately three months now, I’m comfortable to say it was worth the money as my cats seem to love it and it’s a quality product. The pole is much taller than your average scratching pole (approximately 85cm from the base to the top) and very sturdy. It doesn’t show any signs of wobble despite my cats sitting on top of it, applying their amble weight to it while scratching and scratching while hanging upside down from the top of it (some pictures are included to show this). My cats are very destructive and I generally find that any scratching toy I purchase them starts showing wear and fluff almost immediately - I’ve included a picture to show the condition after three months of active use and it’s fairing really well. One downside to this product would be is that I’m not sure there’s a way to replace the scratching sections once worn and/ or destroyed - however, if the life of the product is lengthy I’m comfortable with this. One other thing I’d add is it took almost a week for my cats to show any interest in this product at all so don’t give up on it (and feel enraged about wasting your money) if your babies don’t show immediate interest !

This cat scratcher is great. I have 2 cats, one medium sized 3yr old cat and one large 10yr old cat and they just love it. It’s quite tall and the cats can stretch themselves out to use it rather than having to crouch down. It’s very sturdy and looks good too. Having 2 cats I usually have to buy a new scratcher every few months but they have been using this one constantly for a few months now and it’s still like new. It doesn’t leave a mess when used with no bits of the material falling off from time to time, just a bit of dust now and then. It was a bit more expensive than some scratchers on the market but it’s already saved me money as I would have had to buy a new one by now. As I said it’s still like new a few months after buying and I feel it will last for a long time yet, so good value for money. Better to spend a little extra now to save a lot in the future. I would highly recommend this purchase.

In my view a little expensive but this one stands out. With our prior scratch posts, our cats were cutting through the wound hemp rope and in no time the stands looked ratty. This is built with sisal carpet is really sturdy. So far so good after 2 months of heavy use. Time will tell, but I bought a 2nd one after a month (to place on a different floor) based on the cats really enjoying the 1st one. They were checking them out minutes after I had the posts out of the box and while I completed the assembly. I should add that one great feature is the height of the posts being tall for average sized cats. This is great as they love to hang from it using their front claws. The final comment is that I think that these scratch posts look really good while our cats just like them for the scratch factor. They use them multiple times every day and it is so great that our furniture has never been a target.

The product is good but the top is smooth and not covered with cat's covers . my cats slipped from it and they love to sit on top which they cant with this product so they just use the stand
