I grew up with a German mother and the traditional German Christmas cookies known as Lebkuchen. Until 2 years ago, I was able to buy oblaten seasonally at a local German specialty food store. Then they closed and oblaten were nowhere to be found! Christmas is just not the same without real Lebkuchen with oblaten! I am thrilled that Amazon now carries them and the price is remarkable. I used to pay almost $6.00 for ONE box, which made for expensive cookies. With 10 boxes on hand, I no longer have to hide them since they are also great for munching on and, of course, for cookies! I have been looking for a source for years for these for my Lebkuchen. I live out in the boonies, so need to have many items shipped to me. These are the real thing, the ones I used in Germany!

As advertised, happy with purchase

I love these little wafers. I stocked up on them while living in Germany in the early 1980s and my supply is running low. I am glad to see them at Amazon now. Of course, they were very inexpensive back then (like 79 Pfennig a box) and I don't know what the price will be when they are in stock or if they will have free shipping, but they are great baking aid for muffins. The 50mm size fits nicely in the bottom of muffin pans. I hope Amazon will stock that size. The 70 mm fit extra large muffin pans.Just grease the sides well and greasing the bottom is optional, but a touch is good. I have always disliked paper muffin or cupcake liners because you lose all the crispy edges when you peel it off. Without any liners, you need to be sure the bottoms of the pans are liberally greased. These little wafers are the perfect alternative. The muffins won't stick to the bottom of the pans and the little crispy wafer is a bonus, a real pleasure to the palate. I always use them for muffins. If the price is right when they are stocked, I will definitely be buying them. The larger sizes are good if you are into making lebkuchen or other soft cookies that would stick to the cookie sheet. They even come in rectangular sheets for larger baking. When we lived in Bavaria, our children used to buy a similar product to eat like candy. The bakery sold it next to the sweets as Esspapier ("edible paper"). This version was slightly sweetened and sometimes pastel colored. The children used to stop on their way to school and buy it like penny candy. *P.S. I have edited this because I noted the wrong size for standard muffin pans. 50mm is correct.

Ich habe leider überlesen, dass ich 10 x 100 St. bekomme, daher war das Paket größer als erwartet. An der Qualität oder am Produkt selber kann ich aber nichts aussetzen. Muss jetzt eben ein bisschen mehr backen...

Klein und fein, oder doch nicht? Sie sind zwar etwas größer als es die Standardgrösse verspricht, aber dennoch knackig und lecker. Sehr gut zum backen oder auch als Snack so zu genießen. Und das Preis-leisungsverhältnis ist ohne Frage unschlagbar!

Verwende diese Oblaten seit vielen Jahren für Elisenlebkuchen. Die Oblaten lassen sich gut bestreichen und bleiben größtenteils ganz bei dieser Arbeit.

...oder auch zum Essen. Ich liebe diese Back Oblaten schon seit ich ein Kind war als kleine "Nascherei" zwischendurch. :)
