Heavy-Duty, Easy to Use – A Must-Have for DIY Gardeners! 🌳✂️🌞
I bought the **Corona BP 3180D Forged Classic Bypass Pruner** for **pruning trees and bushes** around my yard, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my gardening tools. As a **DIY’er**, I like to **trim and maintain my own trees and shrubs**, and these pruners are exactly what I needed. They’re **heavy-duty and well built**, yet still **easy to use**—they cut cleanly and feel solid in hand without being bulky. I’ve found that keeping up with my **lawn and garden maintenance** is not only rewarding but a great way to **get some exercise and soak up some vitamin D** while enjoying the outdoors. If you're looking for a **reliable, professional-quality pruner**, this is definitely the one to get. **5 stars without hesitation!** 🌿💪☀️

Awesome pruners
These are very heavy duty and well built. The lock works well and they are comfortable in the hanad. They are very sharp and cut with little effort. Now, if I can just keep my wife's hands off of them.

Great quality though different than expected.
I bought my first Corona Bypass Hand Pruners 50 years ago. I’ve had different corona styles over the years but I’m always most comfortable with the simple ¾” cut. This pair that I received is stamped BP 3160 as are those that I have purchased and used in recent years. This new pair though is heavier and feels more like my 1” Corona Bypass Pruners. The spring is a heavier gauge and requires more force to close. The hook has a wider body (profile) and wider sap groove. Additionally, it weighs 9.1 ounces compared to my older, other ¾” clippers (some marked BP3160, 3160 or without model marks) weighing 8.7 ounces. That 0.4 ounce difference doesn’t sound like much, but if you have arthritis or carpel tunnel issues the weight and balance do matter. Trust me, you feel it. My Catalpa tree hung on to every one of its beans over winter, and a fair crop left from the season before that as well. The last big storm brought them down. I need to get them cleaned up and out of the lawn which is now rapidly growing through them thanks to much needed moisture. Where I live we are still charged for yard waste and I had to drive 1 ½ hours each way to get leaf bags. So, I spent 3 days clipping every one of the lovely beans (most now hard shell and split open into 3 parts each) into 4-inch-long pieces. Why? Because it’s the only ways to get them into 4 trash cans and 4 leaf bags. I spent ½ day with the new ‘beefier’ clippers and the rest of the time with the old. Hundreds of thousand of clips in those 3 days and my old-friend clippers met the challenge. The new ones sat on the side lines. Don’t misunderstand, the new clippers work great it just takes more effort than I had expected for the same model number and not being able to tell from the listing or the Corona Store pages that the product had changed. I’ll give the 5-Stars because I know the quality, but for the all the product pages that in some places show the same picture for the ½”, ¾”, and the 1” cut I would deduct 1/2 Star if I could. Additionally, the name: ClassicCUT Forged ¾” with the picture showing BP3160 Corona BP3160 Classic Cut Bypass Pruner with a picture showing BP3160 Corona Classic Cut 8” Steel Bypass also with a picture that shows BP3160 are all on the same Corona Store 3160 ‘SEARCH’ page, each with different price points. If I were to buy all three, would they all be the same? The model number on each picture says that they would be. If they aren’t the same, how would I know how to choose which would be like my beloved and aging pairs?

Comfortabke with small hands, high quality
These are pretty nice, I regret buying them AFTER I quit landscaping. The only thing I don't like is how the bolt in the middle is so thick on either side of the trimmers, because it doesn't play ball with some of my holsters with the bolt in the way.

Corona hand held pruner
Cuts very well I used it on stems up to 1/2" diameter but definitely could have handled up to 1" as advertised. Well made. Definitely a good buy and tool for my garden

Best pruners I have owned -- see end of my review for tips on cleaning
Growing roses are my thing and these pruners are the best I've found. I have about 40 roses in my garden and, owing to the long growing season in Central Texas, pruning is a regular chore -- the only thing I do more frequently is mow the lawn! I used to just buy a new pair of pruners every year or two from Lowe's to get me by. But I noticed how high the attrition rate became: some cheap pruners would break (especially if they have a fancy open/close mechanism, or cheap springs), others would get dull and stay dull, others just simply felt uncomfortable in the hand, and some were the wrong size or design. I finally decided to invest in a good pair of pruners that would last more than one season and these were it! I know there are more expensive ones out there, but, in my opinion, having tried the "best," I think Corona offers the best bang for the buck of any pruner on the market. The pruners are constructed of forged steel throughout, so that the handle actually extends directly from the blade in one piece of steel. The two "halves" (if you will) are connected by a very stout screw and the spring mechanism is very durable and reliable. The red rubber coating on the handles is very nice and holds up really well. Best of all, unlike many fancy pruners found at Home Depot, the blades are very easy to sharpen and seem to hold an edge much better than the competition. I had high ideas of sharpening this thing monthly, but it never happens. Truth is, it doesn't really matter! With my 40-some rose bushes, I made it through a whole season without sharpening and they still slice through rose canes with an effortless and perfectly clean cut. Overall these pruners are very comfortable and have a natural feel in the hand. The springs work reliably but are neither too strong nor too weak. Like all pruners, they require a bit of basic maintenance beyond sharpening. Oil regularly. I use Wahl clipper oil and have found it very good. You will also notice they get gummed up from plant matter and sappy substance. This is super hard to clean off with soap and water. Rubbing them down with alcohol is great to prevent the spread of disease, but does very little to prevent gummy buildup. I do two things. First, soak the blades i a bowl of vinegar. The acid will help loosen up the gunk without damaging the pruners. Secondly, clean with Fast Orange or a similar pumice-based cleaner. Pumice is the gritty, sandy stuff in the soap that really scrubs off the gunk. Fast Orange also contains copious amounts of citric acid to help clean thoroughly without the use of petro-chemicals. This gets the bulk of the gunk off and will leave your blades shiny clean! Overall I highly recommend these pruners and will return to buy more for many years. I'm very pleased with my purchase and always recommend these to my neighbors when they come to me to get advice from the "rose guy."
