Perfect so far
So far this little thing works great. I have a larger winder that I bought several years ago. Here is why this one is better: Small footprint. I can set it up and wind in a very small area. My other has a huge yarn guide that extends out about 12 inches. I have to put the winder on one end of the table and my swift on the other to make it work. Quiet and smooth. My other has metal gears and is super loud. I have to take it out to the garage every time I want to wind. It also sticks a lot, which means I have to oil it. Which means when I use it, oil flies everywhere. Stable yarn guide. I see how the design of this yarn guide is better than some of the others, based on reviews and videos I've seen. It collapses for storage from side to side other than up and down, so if for some reason it does come loose, the yarn is still basically in same position. It has a very simple way of locking that means you would not have to hold the yarn guide with your other hand. The guide on my other is held with a wing nut that constantly comes undone unless I awkwardly get in there with a pair of pliers to tighten it. Safely clamps to the table. It has rubber pads to protect your table. My other is a complicated clamp that is hard to tighten, and has damaged one table with an exposed screw head.

Excellent value
I have literally spun THOUSANDS of cakes for my wife and her friends with this spinner in just 7 months. (I'm retired and the ladies all have degrees of rheumatism or arthritis in the hands, so this saves their hands for the actual knitting or crocheting). Mechanically, it has had no problems at all. Maybe 2-3 times since purchase I've added TINY amount of lubricant to the gears (use a silicon based, NON petroleum lubricant; petroleum based will dissolve the plastic over time). My wife says the quality of the cakes is best she has had, even tension, tight (but not too tight). couple of tips: with one had on crank, run the yarn through the other hand looped between your fingers and over the thumb to control the tension. Slightly raising or lowering your thumb easily adjusts the tension on the fly. Once the cake is spun, before you pull it off the spindle, wrap a rubber band around the cake, then pull it off. I use blue painters masking tape around the end of the yarn that comes out the center, so my wife can find it easily. She leaves the rubber band on while using, helps the cake keep it shape as it gets to the end and doesn't collapse on itself. You need to find the right size/tension rubber band, not too loose, or tight. I use the Advantage size #32 (3" x 1/8") rubber bands sold at Wal@$t; just right for the diameter of the cake on this spindle. I have made cakes as large as 6 oz on this, just have to be careful towards the end, don't go too fast or the cake will fly off the spindle, and you may have to pull on the metal guide arm slightly to give extra room for the cake to turn.

If you or someone you know crochet, this is perfect
Bought this for my niece who loves to crochet and she said it's great, worth as much more than I paid for it. Has enough room for her to keep her yarn from getting tangled up.

Works as intended
I really love this, super simple set up and ease of use. The yarn cakes are wonderful for storage and for keeping tension during products. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP CONSTANT TENSION ON YOUR YARN WHILE CAKING. I made the mistake of being too lax with it and the cake would fall apart (100% user error). My only complaint is that the rubber pad that is on the inside of the clamp to avoid marking whatever you attach this winder to came off. The glue and rubber smell horrible if you touch it (goes away easy with washing hands), but I ended up throwing the rubber pad away and using goo be gone to get the glue off. In total, I'm VERY happy with this purchase!

Life changer if you work with yarn!
This little device has changed my (crocheting) life! It is easy to set up, easy to use and does the job of winding yarn in a fraction of the time to takes for me to do it by hand. I know each time i start a project and work with the end of yarn from the center that at some point, I WILL get it tangle....it's a strange and contentious relationship I have with yarn. However, my time to sit and crochet is limited so I often don't take the time to ball it beforehand (even though I know I will regret it). This yarn winder is so fast and easy that it gets the job done in just moments and I don't feel like I am losing time. An added bonus is when you realize you made a mistake and need to rip out most of your project, you can just cut the yarn and wind it up as you rip it out. Rework is already a bummer, but this device eliminates the risk of yarn tangling too! I love it!

A better outcome!
this product was great originally but after using one time, it started making a massively loud cranking sound. I tried different alternatives (which some did seem to help) and even checked the internal gears. It still continue to make cranking noises and would constantly skip gears. i was advised to contact Craft Destiny for a replacement, which i did such when after trying several options to fix the sound myself. i contacted them about a week ago and still have yet to receive a response even though their auto response is 1-2 business days. its been 5+. I do like this product but you cant even tune out the grinding sound because of how loud and constant it is. Not to mention, i can barely wind up my yarn before it starts clanking and taking 45 + minutes to get one small skein completed. I hope to hear back from Craft Destiny soon because i do want to give this product a chance...but right now, i would have to tell people its not worth it. if i do get a replacement, and it resolves the problems, i have no problem reverting my comments. Update from my prior feedback with extra stars now: I was put in touch with Craft destiny who immediately sent me a replacement to correct my first issued one. I really do love it's easy setup, sturdiness and effectiveness...can't wait to start winding again!! The customer service was exceptional as well in responding to me with such kindness and understanding my prior frustration!

Winds great, simple to use
I thought I'd have to do something crazy in order to get this to wind my skeins of yarn up into nice yarn cakes, but this thing was a breeze! Probably one of the simplest set ups I've ever seen. The photos on the directions were not great, but you don't need them anyway. Just clamp it to a table, thread your yarn through the hole and into the slot in the center of the bobbin, and start cranking the handle! My only complaint is that it can't wind up my entire skein into a cake because the metal arm gets in the way. It would have been nice to wind the whole skein into a cake, but it's fine. The item still works great, and the price compared to a lot of similar products is awesome. I definitely recommend! Note: you may want to put something between your table and the clamp if you have a cheaper compressed wood type table. The clamp made a few indents in my table, which I knew would be a possibility when I clamped it on there. Just an FYI for some of you if you want to keep your table in pristine condition!

Excellent Product!
I had a yarn winder many eons ago, and though it worked okay, there were some major improvements needed and I ended up abandoning it after a while because it was a pain to use. This new one however, is fantastic! I love that the bottom of the winder is weighted so it's harder to knock over. I love that the clamp is built into the bottom of the winder instead of being separate from it. And I love that it's a little more compact than the one I had before, which makes it easier to store when I'm not using it. Initially I saw the compactness as a con because I thought that I couldn't wind cakes as big as I could with my old one, but as long as I did it correctly, this new winder could make big yarn cakes too. Absolute win, and the extra little goodies inside: a new tape measure, some stitch markers and a few other things, were nice treats.

Great!
Seems to work well. Easy to assemble - only have to attach 1 part and you're good to go. Seems very smooth to wind the yarn, so far I have only wound 2 skeins of yarn up into cakes. Compared to the Knit Picks yarn ball winder, this one seems to be of much better quality. Hopefully it lasts!

Awesome Product
This is an amazing product. Makes perfect yarn cakes every time and so easy to use. This company even gives their customers a gift of little knitting accessories with the product. So unexpected but so appreciated. Thank you. I will definitely be buying more from this company.

Easy to use
I love this little machine. I took some leftover yarn to try it out and it worked wonderfully. I felt like a little kid with a new toy. 2020 has been rather stressful, so this was a fun treat, and practical.
