Magnetic Viewing Film (3 x 4 inches)

This film is going to make one job I do one heck of a lot easier. Works perfectly and was delivered quickly. What more could one ask?

Many modern camshafts have magnetic rings for determining camshaft position. If those magnetic fields degrade or get distorted, your engine won't run properly. This is a cheap, effective way to "see" the magnets of those rings. Check YT for more info.

It really works and its interesting but it feels very thin and flimsy. I'd like it more if it were something I could carry in my wallet without worrying it will get chewed up. For the price I would expect it to be stronger.

I was having trouble with a wireless charger and I needed to find the sweet spot because it wasn’t marked. This paper was used specifically for that, but then also for fun because it’s so easy to use and small. The paper is high-quality so it’s glossy on one side and has a matte finish on the other. It’s used glossy side up. So matte finish side down. As you can see in the pictures, the size says 3 x 4 and it is just that. The pictures are difficult because it’s not a caliper but it is exactly 3“ x 4“. Also shown in the pictures, the paper is sensitive enough to show the magnetic field even through a thick Otterbox Defender case. I didn’t know magnetic paper didn’t reset itself. See the photos. After I took it away from the iPhone mag charger magnets the indication stays in the measurement photos. The directions explain how to reset the paper by using a bigger magnet. Just something to be aware of. It’s still well worth the money.

Takes the guess work out of 3.6 tone wheels. I was having issues with a camshaft code on a 3.6 Pentastar engine and after a timely diagnosis I ended up at the tone wheel. Anyone that knows this engine knows you have to replace the camshaft to replace the tone wheel. This film allows you to safely check the tone segments on the wheel. These segments can easily get damaged by metal coming in contact with them. This is a great tool for seeing this.

Did the job exactly as expected. Wanted to determine if my bass pickups were true humbuckers. After all the commotion from FMIC/Gretsch about the pups on the G2220 bass which was supposed to be humbuckers I wanted to make sure my Ibanez Artcore bass was as advertised/specified.

It is fun to play with. Can help people understand magnetization patterns on fridge magnets and cup magnets. Placing near a laptop computer can show where magnets (speakers) are and imply how strong they are. Cost is a big problem.
