The Fourth World of the Hopis: The Epic Story of the Hopi Indians as Preserved in Their Legends and Traditions

I re-bought this after losing my first copy in a disaster. Since I do think we are in a cycle of major change, spiritually, I wanted to re-read the Hopi take on it. I'm not finished with it yet and it's not for everyone. You need to want to hear the point of view of an indigenous culture about the ways of the world.

This is the best collection of Hopi legends I've found yet. While not perfect, it is very readable.Translating stories from native American languages is very difficult. there are often word that fall short of conveying the meanings into English. It is not a historical account but the legends and myths that were past down from generation to generation. It would be near impossible to judge if it really conveys the message the Hopis meant to preserve. After reading 3 o 4 other collections this one is still my favorite.

Very in depth history of the origins of the HOPI clans, from the beginning to present.You need to read this book at the same time you start to study the pictographs and glyphs across the Americas and the world. After combining my studies, I began to actually see meanings in the rock art. Most of the rock art people tend to only study one side...sorry guys....you need to see the whole picture.

Amazing look into ancient heritage of the Americas. Gave me some of my first spiritual insights into my Home-Land.Essential shamanic reading for an American I think--from the Creation of the Universe to the heritage and migrations of theOld Ones--Awesome!

Good presentation of Hopi tradition. Straightforward writing.

Living in Northern Arizona it is good to know something about the people who were here before Anglo's and Spaniards and outlaws.

Well written, engaging -- even surprisingly so, these beautifully rendered stories allow the reader to peer into ancient times, cultural values, and current realities of the Hopi. I really appreciated the glossary and pronunciation guide. Attached notes enhance appreciation without interrupting well told tales.
