Hi Tammi Girl The stone isn't really suitable for engraving. The words are painted on and I don't think the stone is made of suitable material for engraving. Maybe, you could paint on it. However, there isn't much space to add much detail. The heather on the stone is actually purple, but turns to blue if placed outside which I did. You may need to buy something that is made from stronger material. Also, it may be difficult to remove any of the lettering that is on the stone.

Is this fully waterproof for outside?

Hi, water does get onto this but because it is stone it will literally slide off. When dirt gets on it that can be wiped away with clean water. I have these on both my parents graves. Hope this helps answer your question.
