Great frequency response [better than an FM transmitter] & much more convenient in cars (with tape units) without an AUX input
Using this in a 1997 Chrysler minivan... product worked out of the box [even better once I turned off Dolby :-) on the player].There is a VERY faint clicking that realistically can only be heard if: a) motor is not running and/or you're parked and b) if no music is playing. Under normal operation and when on the road, nothing can be heard.I am surprised by the good frequency response - as an experiment, I created an audio cd of songs from a 320Kbps source - adjusting the volume on smartphone to closely match CD output, I found very little difference between the two sources playing the same song, with only a slight [to be expected] high frequency roll-off/loss when playing via smartphone and adapter, noticeable only when parked, with engine off.Frankly, with highway speeds & wind noise [even in my fairly quiet vehicle] I'm hard pressed to tell the difference. As my cassette deck was hardly ever used, I suspect my results may be different from those of you with heavily-used tape decks - tape head wear WILL affect high frequency response. But even then, you'll get better frequency response with this adapter playing from your iPod than an add-on FM transmitter to the car radio... I have one of those adapters also, but was always unhappy with the muffled sound. Finally, be aware that the unit's cord between your smart phone, iPod, etc. headphone jack and the adapter CAN act like an antenna and pick up interference. Those of you with computer speakers that make noise if a cell phone is/was close know what I'm talking about. For myself, with a bit of experimenting, I found the perfect spot for the music player or phone, on the floor between the two front seats, that does not result in any noise from [say] my wife talking on her phone...For me, this is a great way to play my MP3 music vs. burning CDs.

Great way to input stuff on your iPhone, etc. to your older car's sound system
Works extremely well in my two older cars with cassette head units. I use it to connect my iPhone to the sound system so I can hear turn-by-turn directions from the MapQuest GPS app that's on my phone.

Doesn't work
I bought this back in September, 2015. It worked 25% of the time when I got it. It now works 0% of the time. I wish I would have never wasted my money on it. I loved it the short time that it worked. The sound quality wasn't bad, but it isn't worth the hassle it gives you. If I could find a way to contact the company, I would love one that works. If you want something that will definitely work, this isn't your product. This cassette adapter has done nothing except giving me a headache. I am very disappointed in this product.

Sound is great and I can still hear my map directions when ...
This is the only adapter that works with my 2004 Tahoe and my iphone 6. Every other one I've bought wouldn't work with the case I use for my phone. Sound is great and I can still hear my map directions when I'm using the adapter.

... of these at Radio Shack 2010 and it work fine in my Acura TL where others
I bought one of these at Radio Shack 2010 and it work fine in my Acura TL where others, including Monster, would not work. It failed from me unplugging my phone from it daily. It cost $22 then and $35 now.
