They are more aggressive than stock, but still mild.
The media could not be loaded. I used my (2) Borla XR-1 Sportsman 40085 mufflers in conjunction with a Borla 60548 X-pipe and a pair of Vibrant 17390 resonators on my 2011 BMW X5 50i.The Borla 40085s help with exhaust flow and you will feel and hear a slight difference, but when the company calls them racing mufflers, I believe that they are referring to the fact that they flow well and keep the sound pressure levels (volume) down below 95 decibels. In most cases, that is not much louder than a factory exhaust, but many racetracks require that the cars be no louder than 95 decibels (db) and these mufflers are good for that. The Borla 40085s will have a more aggressive tone than a factory exhaust when you can hear it, but generally it may not be all that noticeable and for the most you'll need to be at high rpm in order to hear it at all.I think the 40085s would also be good for a pickup truck where you have a Y-pipe and only use ONE muffler to quiet down both banks of a V8 engine. In that kind of application there is more sonic energy to muffle and then the tone of the 40085s will be more noticeable. If you are looking for a similar round muffler you can actually hear I would look at a Black Widow Widowmaker 10 or the Magnflow 14419.The Widowmaker 10 is also 5" in diameter, but only 10" long versus the Borla 40085 which is 15" long. The Widowmaker 10 also has not packing which gives it a clearer, more aggressive sound. The Magnaflow 14419 is constructed similarly to the Borla 40085, but it is 4" in diameter and only 14" long versus the 5" x 15" of the Borla 40085, thus the more aggressive and louder tone of the Magnaflow.Hope this helps....

It's a Borla baby!
Fit and finish were top notch, and the sound is fantastic with no drone. Nice rumble at idle and driving normally but at wide open throttle is where it gets aggressive but not obnoxious.

I love the sound of this muffler!
I installed this on 2017 Toyota Tacoma Limited. And I am very satisfied with the results. It has a deep throat sound which is hard to do on a V6. It Is a bit louder muffler than stock which is what I wanted. But not too loud. It really screams when you open her up though! But I have an S&B cold air intake so that helps!

Perfect for daily driver!
First impressions: had it welded on by a shop for $45 total and left the resonator in. It is very quiet to me, but has zero drone! It has a nice, deep sound at start up and crusing around. It also has a little bark with acceleration, but nothing overly aggressive. I thinl it will be better once it breaks in a little and in the long run. I was just expecting louder and now that I know what it sounds like, would have been okay with just a straight pipe. But I am satisfied and it sounds really good! This would be great for anyone looking to daily drive like me who want to ve noticed when he wants to. Only time will tell, but it will only get louder from here! Love it, if you are debating..just get it and be done with. If you do not want drone, the key is to leave the resonator on!!

best muffler if you want a straight through powerful flow and nice deep tone. i put one of these style catbacks on a jeep many years ago and also gave it great sound.

I go through exhaust systems like most women go through shoes but this muffler has stayed around the longest. I have it on my 2014 Ram 1500 with the hemi and 8spd transmission. Single 3" exhaust that I dumped right behind the rear axle. It sounds mean, aggressive and straight up loud on a cold start up, I'm sure my neighbors love me....Highway drone; there is some but nothing that I bothers me, even on a 14 hour drive from Colorado to Iowa. Both my wife and 6 year old daughter have never complained about it either and you can still hear the radio clearly even at 70-75 mph.Wide open throttle: I don't do it much but man o' man is it awesome. When the transmission shifts, the exhaust BAAARRRPS are pretty bad ass.If the magnflows aren't enough for you, give this one a try.

Bought for my TBSS, quieter than I expected. Complete stock truck including headers and resonator. You hear it most after 1500 RPM so if you do a lot of low speed driving around town I would delete the resonator as I plan on doing so.

Wrx Subaru rumble!
Awesome exhaust from a great brand!I love Borla mufflers!Installed on a WRX hatchback and the sound is just awesome! It is loud enough to hear the engine purr but not obnoxious. Very quiet at low rpm and shines at about 3.5k and deep rumble at cold start at about 1.5k rpms.No drone whatsoever on the freeway and no annoying high-pitched engine sound.Don't be fooled about the small diameter as it can give a really deep tone.Love it, love it!
