Book Best for Kiddos Who Aren't Overly Fixated on Routines
This is a book I actually struggled to rate, and I decided ultimately to lean on the side of the merits of the book for a typically developing kiddo, as opposed to how useful I feel like this book would be for my own child's situation. Our sweet son has Autism, among other things, and I purchased this book with a group of other Daniel Tiger books because I have recently discovered he is more willing to accept new books if they closely parallel some of his favorite TV shows or episodes. One of the struggles our son has is accepting new things, he likes what he likes, in the order he likes it in. Now this book does very closely parallel an episode in season 2, so it gets high marks for that. And I think that the plot line is cohesive and solidly written. This isn't a book with enchanting prose per se, but since it's meant to be easily understood by children to help get them willingly into cooperating with a bedtime routine with their parents I can't fault it for that. It's that routine bit that's a bit more of a "can bite you in the backside hard" element of this book. Our son, like many kiddos with Autism, can get super fixated on a routine. To the point where I try really hard to limit the fixed routines, or what we get is a super intense meltdown that can last upwards of an hour that can leave you feeling like you were hitting it hard at the gym by the time your done helping to manage that and keep him safe. Every parent's approach is different, but my approach is to warn him what's going to be happening, so he's prepared and can expect it, but to shake things up a lot. So that his routine is to expect things will be different. Baths might happen sometimes in the night, sometimes in the morning. Sometimes it's a shower. That sort of thing. So there are some consistent themes, but I keep it random, because that's actually the best way to keep my little man from melting down. And this book really, really drums in the routine bit.So for me, I also have to make sure this isn't the bedtime book we try to read him every night, nor even every other night. Nor can he be read to every night. Because if any one thing happens to throw off what he expects every night, bam. A whole bunch of unhappiness ensues. So that's why for me, the overemphasis of routine in this book wasn't my favorite, because I don't really want him reinforced in the rigidity of his thinking on the matter, because it won't help him long term and it won't help anyone working with him long term. But from the developmental standpoint, for a typically developing child, routines are comforting and provide stability without the same levels of drama and difficulty when they have to be deviated from, so personally, I think that's the market this book is best for.

Great for bedtime
We love Daniel Tiger in our house and this book did not disappoint! Daniel wants to play, but has to get ready for bed... this theme repeats throughout the story. Daniel goes through his bedtime routine: bath time, pjs, brush teeth, story, song and off to bed, and while he may wish he could continue playing you can tell as the story goes on that he is getting tired. This is great for kids who object at bedtime and/or dislike aspect of their routine. My son fusses about brushing teeth so now we say he needs to brush teeth just like Daniel Tiger and it helps. Great story and illustrations even if you are not familiar with Daniel. So far all Daniel Tiger books we have purchased correspond directly to one of his episodes so it is exciting for my son if we run across one of those shows - it's also nice for me to hear how the characters sing the song in the book.

PERFECT DANIEL TIGER BOOK!
Finally, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood books are here! Parents and children alike are rejoicing openly in the streets!"Goodnight, Daniel Tiger" is the book version of the fabulous Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Season 1, Episode 34 "Goodnight, Daniel." It time for Daniel to stop playing and get ready for bed. You and your little ones will be able to sing along to "bathtime, brush teeth, pjs, story and song, and off to bed!" while Daniel follows his bedtime routine. It is very true to the episode. The book itself is lovely. It's a generous 10x10" square. It's a "soft" hardcover--meaning the cover feels stuffed. The red border is a velvety texture that represents Daniel's favorite red sweater. The pages are glossy and filled with gorgeous full-page illustrations. My hubsand and I were very impressed by the quality and our 2 year old's mind was basically blown, since she didn't even know Daniel Tiger books existed. She kept asking for "one more time!" More reading? We'll do that anytime, anywhere, any day! Wonderful purchase!

Daniel Tiger is always a winner
Daniel Tiger books and tv show/movies are such good teaching tools that toddlers can relate to. The stories are always warm and so family friendly. Such sweet stories and appropriate lessons taught. I absolutely love Daniel Tiger. A great tribute to Fred Rogers as well. Hope they keep this series clean and sweet for children and don’t ruin it like they have so many others.

Great bedtime book
My toddler loves Daniel the tiger and I was getting tired of reading that “moon” book as a bedtime book. I ordered this and he loves it! It’s nice to have another option as my little one is instistant on his last book of the night being where the character goes to bed. He loves this so much he’s started taking it to bed. It is a paperback version so I’m not sure how long it will last in bed but it’s worth it for a calm nights sleep.

Perfect for Bedtime
Great illustrations - just like the Good Morning/Good Night episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Colorful and happy images for bedtime.Several songs from that episode are written into the story, so you might want to watch it before you read this to your Daniel Tiger fan. For example, some lyrics for "Brusha, Brusha, Brush my Teeth," "Good Night Daniel, Good Night," and other songs are written into the story. This is a great bedtime story to reinforce a child's bedtime routine and why it's so important to get a good night's sleep. Great value on this paperback version, too. I would recommend this even for children who don't watch the show.
