Nice Action and Components at a Reasonable Price
Although I just received this rod and won't be able to try it until I go on a 7-Day long range trip out of San Diego in the fall, I am quite impressed by the overall quality, weight, action, and the components. I build my own saltwater rods, so I know what goes into making one and the importance of quality materials. The fact this has an ALPS reel seat, the finest made in my experience, and an ALPS metal gimbal is a testament to the thought and quality Okuma has put into this rod. A couple of things to note: I didn't notice this had already been answered in the Amazon "Q&A" section, but I called Okuma and spoke with Daniel Ramos about the fact the stripper guide has the feet reversed (meaning the two feet face the tip) compared to normal rods where the single foot faces forward; as he explained, the rod is wrapped this way because it helps prevent wind knots and line fouling on the first guide. Second, the rear handle section does not have the "bare blank" length as shown on their website, at least for this "Medium Heavy" model, but I consider this a positive and not a negative. I plan to use this with a Penn Slammer III 6500HS and 50# topshot with Halco poppers when I'm in wahoo and school size tuna territory and I feel confident it will get the job done. Okuma has done a great job of bringing an affordable quality popping rod to the market for under $200 and I thank them for that.Side note: I just noticed the guides on the rod are actually ALPS with zirconuim inserts, not Fuji with alconite inserts as the Okuma webpage states. The Alps guides are superior to Fuji in my opinion, so this is yet another plus for the rod and a pat on the back of Okuma for a job well done.

Killed the yellow and blue fin tuna!
One of the best rod I owned and used. Took it on 3 day bft trip down to San Diego. This was by far my go to rod. I paired it with my Penn fth25nld2 and killed 20-30lb yft and bft! No fatigue through the trip! 2 cautions... #1 this is a very stiff rod (not like a glass or mixed rod if you’re used to Calstar or seekers). You’ll have to test casting bait first before slinging it out there. #2 this is not a “true” rail rod. Although the foregrip is longer than most rods, the eva foam is thin. But you aren’t going after cows with this rod. The intend is your 20-30lb set up. The 741xxh-xxxxh is a true rail rod with heavier foregrip set up (which I will write a review on them as well). With that said, lots of backbone on this one. At no point did I feel under powered! All fish came in within 5 min of fighting! Recommend the PCH line!

Worth every penny
I actually own 3 models of the PCH Custom I liked them so much. So I first purchased the okuma PCH custom 801XH to pair with my new Penn Fathom LD2 30 and I couldn't be happier with the results! I live in San Diego and frequent the overnight and 1-2 day trips to mexico for Pacific bluefin, yellowfin, yellowtail and Dorado. I run 65lbs braided line and add 20' of top shot 25-50lbs. The biggest fish I've caught so far on this rod is a 95lbs bluefin tuna. It took over 2hrs to reel the fish in but the deckhands were complementing the rod, the reel was a little under gunned for a near hundred pound tuna so I bought the second the go with Penn Fathom LD2 40N. Also a great combo. The last one is the PCH Inshore Custom pair with Shimano TranX 400 for swim baits and bay fishing

Rod tip arrived damaged.
The rod tip arrived damaged. Unusual thing is the box was in good shape. Upon arrival, I checked the box first, no damage, then I carefully removed the rod from the bag and noticed there was a foam protecting the tip. I removed the foam and noticed the tod tip was crushed. My best guess is the box was thrown around and it must have hit a wall head on, hard. Notice the foam shows a deformity due to the impact. Im returning the rod for a replacement since I really want this rod. It has a beautiful finish, too bad they dont do enough to protect them from tip damage. Should not force me to star count rate this rod. The issue is with the package not the rod.

Very very stiff big game Rod
I bought this rod for a king mackerel/ live bait setup. It says heavy... but it should say something like -ultra heavy- lolI LOVE this rod!For such an incredibly lightweight rod, it's soooo stiff. I feel like it can turn any fish But,If 1 thing could be slightly improved tho, it's improving long casting/detecting a bite. I'd really like slightly more flexible tip, just the last 18" or so. No more.Still easily a 5 star 8n my book.

Good
Light rod, good bend, meaning not a really fast shut off. Thin diameter at the reel seat

This is not weight as their websites state
Rod 7'6" H is actually 500g compared to 391 g on their website. Advertised as light weight, I expect the weight to be accurate, I bought it for that sole reason . Besides that the rod feel really good, but damn its 110g or almost 4 oz heavier than stated. I have to return n look for lighter one..UPDATE 6/27/21now im glad i had this rod, most beefy that i use for een trolling deep dive lure for tunas :) updated rating to 4 stars
