Great for when you're ready to make the jump to all-grain
Wonderful book but I CANNOT recommend the Kindle version. Do yourself a favor and buy the hard copy. So much is indexed and it's rather topicl... you'll be all over the place, confused and frustrated with the kindle version. The content is great, the author is outstanding... just make sure you get the hard copy.Regarding content; this is great for the aspiring brewer. His book Joys of Homebrewing is in it's fourth edition and is outstanding for beginners and intermediate brewers. Once you have 10+ extract batches under your belt, you're likely ready to jump toward kegg'n or all-grain. That's where this book fits in great.

Good for history, not much practical technical information
I loved the Joy of Homebrewing. In this book I sought more advanced knowledge for all-grain brewing - specifically for water chemistry and recipe development. For example, I have water that is on the harder side, and was looking for some practical information regarding how to lower the pH -- like descriptions of different acids to use, considerations in doing so, mash stabilizers, etc. My brewstore guys are good, but I really wanted an objective reference book.It just doesn't deliver -- it covers these topics with disappointing brevity and makes a fair amount of reference and repetition with The Joy of Homebrewing. Its not a bad book by any means and I did enjoy reading some of the history it has very well covered and will try some of the recipes, but if you are looking for advanced technical knowledge -- this just doesn't provide practical information.

Recommend
Husband loved it as he just started brewing his own beer. He's taking his time reading it and even making notes for future brews. It's a serious thing for him :) Would recommend based on his feedback that he has found many great things in the book.

Doesn't seem current
I really wanted to like this book, but I question whether some of the recommendations are really up to date with current knowledge and this is the fourth edition.

Love this book!
It's what I expected from a ZapPap book. Loads of good info for intermediate-advanced brewing written in an experienced but very, very approachable language.

Great book
One of the best books on brewing out there! Would highly recommend for brewers at all stages of experience. When I first bought it I was only doing basic extract beers and now I still flick back through it doing all gain beers! The book is good because it also teaches you how to make extract beers that are just as good as all grain beers. He highly respects both fields and give recipes and advice on both.

I expected more
It was okay, but where the first book by Charlie was so good, I expected more from this one. I guess the rest is up to me now.
