This came in today. We are boaters and require our dogs to wear flotation vests while traveling to our destination. We adopted a very large new fur baby and I was concerned about getting a sturdy life vest. Well this is definitely it. The fit was perfect for the measurements. The Velcro and buckles are strong. The handle straps are able to lift his 82 pounds if necessary. He is able to move in it without an issue and appears to be very comfortable. I would say that overall it has exceeded what we look for in functionality. It further passed the water resistance test. Overall is very well made and he looks great in the color.

The quality is better than a comparable one we bought from a chain pet store for our other dog. Our dogs can swim, but using life vests is a precaution we take when out in deeper water just in case they fall off the boat. [Size comment: our big boy is over 90 lbs and barrel chested. The size that fits his girth is a little long for his body. (So it sticks out past his bum and is a little awkward, but we're trying to be safe while underway, not create an outfit. They should make husky sizes for dogs, lol.]

be careful to order the correct one - It is great fits a moderate - larger border collie - 55 -60 pounds well - the weird thing is when you change the COLOR and try to order another it brings up a different vest - I have two dogs and had to return one and when I tried to order a replacement for the one I can see why - you pick one item and change the color and the actual product changes - to a more heavy duty one which is more than we need. it seems that they have different types based on color - anyway - this one is good.

Update: As expected when my dachshund got so excited and wanted to play hard, his arm got caught in the upper strap but as I stated in the post, always be with your dog. Thankfully he was in my held arms as this happened so I caught it. Can’t say this is was due because I was holding him or not.Another update is that it started to rip on top. So I’ll downgrade this rating.Old review: We love this for our dachshund for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a long enough to cover majority of my doxie’s back. Second, since our dogs are already so low, the front floater is essential for our babies to keep their head more afloat with support. I would say though that you should fasten the velcro higher than you usually would to ensure better support when swimming. Fasten it more than you would in all the straps. Third, I think the material is solid and keeps afloat.As always, NEVER leave your dog unattended, ESPECIALLY for dachshunds who are already height unique. I will say, because of the product design, there is always a possibly of the the front legs of the dachshund of becoming stuck in front part of the vest if they pick up their legs too high (this is a possibility for any design similar to this such as winter jackets) - that is why to always keep an eye on your baby and strap the velcro higher.For the company, if you can make the back even slightly longer for our dachshunds that would be great. Otherwise, it works well!

Pleasantly surprised. My doggo doesn't love harnesses but she seemed to tolerate this. Babygirl jumped into the water off our paddle board but she was more than safe, head out of water.I was a little skeptical that my girl would handle it but it worked great. She was a small, almost 20 inches girth, it was right on the brink between small and medium.

I have a pitty / plot hound mix.He's a strong swimmer who wasn't aware of his own capabilities.He has swam approximately 3-4 miles in this (with breaks in between)I take him paddle boarding with me now that we have a proper vest for him.Once it's properly adjusted --> It does it's job well and keeps his face above water.Love the bright safety orange color that makes him easy to spot in a lake or large pond.***It may require re-adjustment once it's been used and soaked a few times***He can do his potty with no issues / no messDoes not interfere with his standard collar.He is a happy boi.

This is a great life-saving dog vest. I bought this for my 14 pound shih-tzu, as I wanted to be able to take her sailing and paddleboarding. It's easy to put on. The fabric is soft yet high quality, and I love the orange reflective color. She seems to be comfortable in it and in the water. I wanted to see how the vest would hold up in an emergency situation, so I placed this on her and we waded into the lake. It held her head and body comfortably and steady no tipping or rolling over like reviewers reported on other styles that I considered.

This item worked for me in a pinch, but it tore on the first day. It looks much more boxy than other dog life jackets I've seen, and doesn't seem like it was made to fit on an animal. I'll be looking elsewhere for something that is more dog-shaped.
