Smooth and Reliable Performance
I recently changed the oil in my 2004 Wagon R AX Automatic using Liqui Moly 8576 Molygen New Generation 5W-40. The unique green color is a nice touch, but the real impact is on performance—my engine now runs noticeably smoother and quieter, and it starts up with ease. It’s like giving my car a fresh lease on life! If you’re looking to boost performance and extend your engine’s longevity, I highly recommend this exceptional oil. I’ve even noticed improved fuel efficiency on long highway drives.

I learnt it the hard way.Do a thorough check on Oil compliance before purchase. This does not comply to latest VW 505.01 standard
A PREVIEW TO PURCHASE & MESSING UP :xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAlready impressed with the significant lowering of my engine clutter by merely using the liquid moly super diesel additive, I ordered multiple automotive products for my Skoda rapid 1.6 diesel 2014 model, to check out the first-hand experience of each of the product.Engine flush & Engine oil were my first preference as my Skoda rapid 1.6 diesel TDi was due for an engine oil change and I wanted to have a taste of something special-something different than contemporary top brands like Castrol, Shell or Motul.Discussed with the nearest showroom experts to know that they were using 4.3 litres of the Castrol OE magnatec professional 5W40 in all Volkswagen vehicles & 5W40 was enough specification to make a purchase.I referred my service manual & it suggested to use VW 507.00 standard oils which was probably copied from European long life norms where service can be done in 30000 kms or 2 year whichever comes earlier. Also found VW 507.00 mostly has 5W30 viscosity SAE ratings not 5W40 as required by indian summer conditions.“Till that time I wasn’t aware of the numerous VW engine oil standards & how critical, even the second digit of decimal meant.”In a hurry & overwhelmed with the positive reviews of Liqui Moly products ,I did not do a thorough check and settled for compliance to VW 502.00/505.00 with our subject oil.Even sellers as expected are not aware of the stringent requirements and never mention it in their online details. They just respond with a quick “Yes” simply on the basis of Fully synthetic & 5W40.Seems I was about to learn my lesson the hard way.ABOUT THE ENGINE OIL:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxPACKING & COST DETAILS:*********************************************@ Since my vehicle required 4.3 liters of engine oil, I had to purchase one 4 Liter & one 1 Liter cans. Chose the New Molygen one as it was claimed by the seller,to be the newer of the other Toptec & Liech series of oils from the same brand.@ Both were purchased online via amazon 4 Liter can for 3999 & extra 1 Liter for 997 bucks. Could not find any local dealers & decided not to waste any more time.** The costs are quite sharply high in comparison to contenders but the extra cost I suppose is attributed to it being imported in india rather than being manufactured.@ Both products are Made in Germany manufactured products, imported , packed & marketed by an native distributor Ansysco Anand LLP,Himachal.** For information : With Wurth, Germany acquiring Liqui Moly, Very soon the latter is going to start production in India only & these cans might be the last limited ones. This will surely cause a major price drop with similar quality as imported ones.@ Both my cans though received from separate sellers had a manufacturing date around June & November 2016 so it can be expected, that the stock that you would receive would not be the latest.** Most of the synthetic oils have a shelf life of 5 years however it is best to use it within 2 years after manufacture.@ The 1 Liter can was found intact upon receipt but the 4 Liter plastic can was found deformed due to any impacts in transformation. Fortunately no leakage was observed. A lot of details were mentioned over the can mostly in German hence was out of comprehension.** The material of the can contains the number 2 which indicates it’s made of the safer & high quality plastic HDPE which is stiffer and reduces the risk of damage to chemical stored due to leaching.TEXTURE & PHYSICAL APPEARANCE:****************************************************@ The oil from the inside of the can is dark green in color as it has some dye that glows in dark & makes leakage identification super easy.My earlier Castrol magnatec was golden in colour which had turned black upon removal as normally happens with all used oils.Talking of the stickiness – I felt my OEM Castrol magnatec was a tad more sticky than this molygen one.PERFORMANCE:*******************************@ I have witnessed the superior anti-friction capabilities of some anti-seize compounds made of Molybdnem disulphide in my office & similar properties of it, incorporated in engine oil may achieve superior lubrication properties between moving components inside an engine thus lowering the frictional component between them.As a result lower NVH levels from the engine and reduced wear & tear of components can be easily expected.@ “The oil is fully synthetic & safe to be used for any type of petrol or diesel engines & is designed for use with turbo charged diesel engines as well.”----NOOOOO!!!Above was my “EARLIER PERCEPTION” as presented by the seller.. BUT…VW 502.00 (For Petrol)/ VW 505.00(For Diesel) are very old standards & I was supposed to only buy oil based upon VW 505.01 or higher VW 507.00 standards.Oils based upon older VW 505.00 standards are now not at all recommended to be used with modern turbo diesel engines but I did the mistake & never realised till I drove 150 kms after the upgrade & realized no significant benefit over the common oils.@ Used same brand engine flush to prep the engine clean for an oil upgrade which must always be done if you upgrade oils even within the same brand. Mixing various types of oils can damage your engine parts.@ Regarding performance this molygen oil did cause an additional smoothness in ignition and idle running sound but it wasn’t significant to appreciate at all for a hefty price.Noticeable difference though was on the higher revvs where engine noise was definitely found smoother while accelerating. However that could be due to new filters put up in service at showroom workshop, as well.@ Regarding temperature rise,I did see some improvements but then again it is inconclusive as the oil is new with new filters.OVERALL VERDICT:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxMy verdict goes with a PRECAUTION, to never trust sellers and do your own thorough research (which I usually do, but missed it somehow) upon the compliance required for any oil or part required in your vehicle. Be it the Engine oil, the gearbox oil or the brake fluid.Since this oil complies to an older petrol / diesel vehicle standard – VW 502.00 / VW 505.00 and I was supposed to put VW 505.01 compliant oil as minimum in my vehicle.I would suggest all my readers to be surgical for compliance details & visit various forums to evaluate pros & cons of any oil and never rush to it as I did. Anyways glad I learnt my lesson before any severe damage like taking the vehicle for long drives with this oil.Further regarding performance, I could sense some easiness in higher revvs but then since I should not use it, I would rather buy some VW 505.01 compliant engine oil now along with engine flush.I am looking at liquid Moly 4100 Toptec. Can't exactly blame the product as it was my mistake but then the sellers must clearly mention/emphasize the standards it follows and vehicles it can be used with. Will update upon the same as well .
