Customer service excellent
Bought this very excited to make my own beef jerky. When it arrived I dehydrated apple slices and banana slices which it did perfectly. Second day I put in my pre marinated beef slices and switched it on. 3 hrs into the process all I could feel was cool air flowing. That shouldn't be I thought? Wasn't working at all. Had to finish my jerky in the oven which was OK.Contacted the seller and they were very prompt to reply via amazon. And told me that they would send out a new base unit which I'm using atm. Must say my new batch of jerky is the bomb! I hope this unit lasts because I'm enjoying the fruits of my labour.Fair play to misterchef in being so prompt and sending out a new heating base.

Ideal entry level dehydrator
I bought this to replace a similar model that I have had for around 10 years so I could use the same shape trays. They are easy to use the only downside on this one is the numbered settings instead of temperature settings but I assume the numbers equate to fairly closely to temperature settings on my old one so I will just use that knowledge. It’s a minor point but for anyone buying this as their first ever it would be confusing, there is no explanation in the instructions of what temp the numbers relate to either. Otherwise it’s a great buy

Perfect for mushrooms
I've only used this to dry out mushrooms so far and it does a fantastic job.

Brilliant
We love dried fruit, however after buying some dried mango from a big grocery store that had a disgusting whitish powder all over the fruit, I looked for a dehydrator. THANK GOODNESS THEY EXIST!.This device is brilliant. I have used it several times and the fruit comes out delicious. The package comes with a 'booklet', not a 'Recipe Book' as the listing says.>In the recipe booklet they suggest to immerse the fruit in fruit juice for a couple of hours before drying it, and trust me: you don't need it. The fruit retains all the natural flavors and sweetness, no need for more.>In the recipe booklet they suggest to cover the fruit with lemon juice so the fruit keeps its bright color... not needed either.Times may vary depending on what you are drying, so far I have dried: Mango, pineapple, strawberries, apple, pear, kiwi and peach. I place the sliced fruit on the trays at around 9pm and leave it until 9am (12 hours) on temperature '7'. It is the perfect snack for children, completely free from additives and preservatives. I also use it to decorate puddings and cakes. I haven't been able to store for more than 3 hours.... we eat it all! LOL.You'll find that it takes a bit of time to get the fruits ready; washing, peeling, cutting, slicing... but it's all worth it.

Not as good results as I'd hoped.
Easy to use, fairly quiet, I filled it with thinly sliced peeled apples, it took 12 hours and they were still soft. I put them back in the next day as I didn't want to leave it on overnight, for another 6 hours. They had dried up a bit more, nice flavour but I've had better texture.I tried thinly sliced beetroot, about 16 hours on number 5, not crispy, a bit tough.I sliced 5 bananas, 18 hours drying time, not crisp and a bit leathery but nice flavour.I'll try a few more things but I may only end up using it to dry flowers, I haven't tried those yet.I don't think it's going to save any money due to prolonged electricity use.
