Strong clean and well finished
I got these to sit in rubber feet for my furniture. I got a couch with really pointy legs. I got some rubber feet but the legs were so pointy the rubber wasn’t totally flat. I got these real thick welding steel disc. They fit in the rubber but were sharp and dirty. Not a good living room choice. I got some hard wood disc. They all split under the weight. But these little guys were clean and seem to be handling the weight fine. No bending. I’ve only sunk about 40 dollars into these coasters now lol.

Saved me a lot of cutting!
Good quality! With minimal edge deflection this was perfect for my project!

As expected
These circle blanks are about what you’d expect. You can see where they were cut and punched out of a sheet, (see little tabs on the edges) they are pretty clean, but if you’re perfectionist you’ll probably clean the edges up a bit. No real burns or anything but they are sharp. Don’t have a direct use for them yet, but they’ll go in the drawer of bits and parts for when I need a creative solution. Good for a really large washer, or backing plate maybe?

Metric Disks Sold as Inches — Usable, But Rough Around the Edges
When I picked these up, I had a laser engraving project in mind. While I haven’t etched them yet, I’ve had plenty of time to inspect them—and there are a few things that don’t quite match the product description. Size (Biggest Gotcha) These are marketed as 8” disks, but they are actually: • 7 27/32” in diameter • Exactly 200 mm So these are clearly metric parts being labeled in inches, which is misleading. Based on this, it’s safe to assume that the others on the page are likely: • “8 inch” = 200 mm • “6 inch” = 150 mm • “4 inch” = 100 mm If you need true inch-sized stock, this will be a problem. If you’re fine working in metric, they’re consistent. Thickness The thickness is right on spec at 2 mm, so no complaints there. Edge Quality The product description claims these are burr-free, but mine definitely were not. • Several spots had noticeable burrs/sharp edges • The outer edge is not perfectly uniform, even though it is generally circular You’ll likely need to: • File or deburr the edges • Do a little cleanup before use Not a dealbreaker, but not “ready to use” either. Material These do appear to be stainless steel. A strong neodymium magnet barely holds on and easily slides across the surface. This behavior is typical of austenitic stainless (like 304), which is weakly or non-magnetic—so this checks out. Surface Finish The surface is not mirror-polished, but more of a matte or mill finish. • It may look like there’s a coating, but there’s no removable film • The finish is just the raw surface treatment If you want a reflective finish, it should polish up well with the right buffing compounds. Bottom Line ✅ True 200 mm metric sizing (consistent if you expect it) ✅ Accurate 2 mm thickness ✅ Stainless steel (likely 300-series, low magnetic response) ✅ Suitable for engraving or fabrication with prep ✘ Not actually 8” — metric sizing mislabeled ✘ Burrs present despite “burr-free” claim ✘ Edges need cleanup before use ✘ Surface is unfinished (not polished) ✘ A bit pricey for the level of finish These are usable stainless disks, especially for projects like engraving—but expect to do a bit of prep work. Just don’t buy them expecting precise inch dimensions or a finished, ready-to-use surface.

Well formed and cut 304 stainless steel discs with smooth unmarred surfaces on both sides
These 304 stainless steel discs are neatly cut although there is a very slight burr which is easily removed with a file or similar tool. Both sides are smooth and unmarred. I'll be able to buff finished parts to a mirror polish without difficulty compared to some stainless plate products I've worked with in the past. Mirror polished 304 stainless is highly corrosion resistant even in a marine environment. The discs are perfectly flat. My measurements matched dimensions in the listing exactly. Testing with a magnet evidenced no magnetism, which is consistent with 304 stainless steel that hasn't been cold worked. I use small stainless steel plates to fabricate a variety of parts on my sailboat. Some of these will be used as part of a new companionway washboard project I'm working on. Fabricating stainless steel parts in a simple shop like mine takes some effort but beautiful, long lasting products can be created. If you aren't familiar with drilling 304 stainless steel be aware that it will work harden if too much heat builds up so you must keep the drill bit cutting all the way through. Ideally you should see curly cutting rather than chips or no cuttings at all. I usually use a small drill press along with cutting oil and always start with a 1/8" pilot hole. Make sure the stainless plate is secured well while drilling, and stay clear, otherwise the bit may grab and spin the plate instead of cutting which can be very dangerous. I have no doubt these plates will serve well. I would order this product again.
