The Locker Ate Lucy!: A Branches Book (Eerie Elementary #2) (2)

My 7 year old is flying through this series. He loves them so much and has never taken to reading like this before. I’m so thrilled.

This is another installment of the Eerie Elementary series. It continues the story of Sam Graves and his friends and their battle with Eerie Elementary school. This time, a locker eats Lucy, and Sam and Antonio must rescue her. This book, like the others, is well written. It has just the right level of mystery and excitement for kids of that age range. These books are also fun to read for adults like myself.

Bought it for my boys in first grade

I have a 7 year old son who is a reluctant reader. He struggles a bit with his reading so i am always trying to find that right book/series to capture his attention. This was it! I came across the Eerie Elementary series in an article outlining good chapter books/series for reluctant readers and was so excited when, after he started reading it to me, asked me if it was okay for him to read to himself for a while. He spent the better part of an afternoon reading this book. He finished the book in a day, which is something he really hasn't done. His teacher has concerns about how much he retains while reading so i found some reading comprehension excercises just to get an idea about how he was doing. He excitedly answered questions about the story in detail. Last night at bed time he started another in the series and was reluctant to put it down. It has action and adventure and friends working together to solve a mystery. They are fun and a little spooky without being too scary. My son gives it two thumbs up, and so does his momma☺.

My 8 year old loves this series. The way the second one ended made it sound like there would be more books written in the series. We're hoping so. My son also loves Notebook of Doom and Dragon Masters, series that are also published under Scholastic's Branches arm. As a parent, I've found the Branches books to be great for reluctant readers who may get overwhelmed by the thought of going from leveled readers with pictures on every page to reading chapter books with smaller type and visuals every few pages. The Eerie Elementary series is an engaging story that infuses just enough scariness/intrigue into the text, but not too much for my son's age that it would make him anxious. Vocabulary is right for the age group and the pictures support the text for kids who are still working on combining reading aloud with real-time story comprehension. My son's 20 minutes of reading homework for school each day goes much more smoothly when he's reading books he feels good about and that he wants to pick up again the following day because he wants to know what happens next. The end of Eerie Elementary #2 left both of us wanting to know what happens next. Please write more in this series Mr. Chabert.

My son and I love reading these books. I read most of it, but he reads a paragraph here and there. The words are easy enough, but being chapter books, he gets "tired" of reading so I marked advanced for his age for that reason only. We've read 4 or 5 books so far and he's always engaged and asks to read. Plus, mom enjoys them too!

My son is 9 and in 3rd grade and hates reading but LOVES this series! These are definitely some of the only books that we have found which he enjoys! One of the first times he read one he said “WHAT?! I’ve been reading for 20 minutes?! It only felt like 5!!!” Thank goodness! They have a very cute and imaginative story line! I feel like they would be suitable for all kids, especially those needing a slower transition to chapter books...they are chapter books, but they have a picture every 2-3 pages which my son loves! Great for 2nd and 3rd graders...or a higher level 1st grade reader!

一文が短く文法も平易で読みやすいです。全ページ挿し絵つきで、ストーリーは子ども向けではありますが、展開が早く面白いです。英検準２級相当のお子さんなら楽しめると思います。
