Eclipse Professional Tools EWWPS9 9" Plain Screw Woodworking Vice

Have used this vice for a couple of weeks now for various woodworking tasks. This vice is very easy and straightforward to fit but is on the chunkier side so you have to ensure you have a solid surface to mount it to. The grip is very strong on this vice, which you have to bear in mind when using on soft woods otherwise it leaves marks. Build quality is very good and sturdy, as mentioned earlier this is quite a chunky vice. Would recommend for small woodworking projects, anything larger wouldn’t fit.

I was very pleased to be able to get this vice and have found that it is of high quality and robustness. The vice is very heavy and is made of thick steel, which means it is going to not only be durable now, but likely to remain so in the long term. It is easy to use, once fitted to a bench, by simply turning the screw to open and close it. I was particularly impressed with how smooth this motion was, with no signs of tightness or stiffness to be found. Once tightened, I found that it gripped very well, keeping the item completely still, enabling me to work on it. It also left no marks afterwards. Whilst my thoughts and findings on this item are very much positive, there are a couple of issues. There are no instructions or fittings to enable you to mount this. It is therefore a task of trying to locate the correct screws, nuts and bolts, and then finding a similar product instruction video online. Overall, this process isn’t complex if you are handy with DIY or assembly. The last issue was the amount of grease it is covered in when it arrives. Ensure you give it a good wipe before use, as this is difficult to get out of wood once it has soaked. Overall, however, I am happy with this vice and would recommend it. It is great value and a high quality product.

I recently renovated my garden and finally have a shed with a workbench, so a proper vice was very much needed. This vice is incredibly heavy and feels robust enough to last a lifetime. The action on the plain screw is really smooth, and it clamps down on timber pretty evenly without any racking. The only real downside is that it comes with absolutely no mounting hardware or instructions. You have to source your own bolts to fit it to your bench, which is a bit of a faff but not the end of the world. It also comes covered in a fair bit of protective grease that needs cleaning off before you start. Once installed though, it’s brilliant. The front stop is really useful for planing, and overall is really good value for money as I don’t see myself needed a new vice for years.

This is a perfectly capable vice that’s well made, good value, and ideal for a home workshop! The vice comes well packed with protective grease generously applied throughout. The overall quality of the vice is very good, its nicely machined, it feels sturdy, and winding it feels very smooth. You don’t get any mounting hardware but that is to be expected as work benches can differ greatly so it’s easier to source your own according to your requirements. Overall, I’m more than happy to recommend this vice and I feel it's worth the full five stars, buy with confidence!

This is a very heavy and very solid feeling vice for woodworking. It doesn't come with anything to fit it to the bench, but that's ultimately only going to be a couple of decent bolts and a drill needed, and the likelihood is that if you need this then you have the other tools available to fit it. It adjusts very smoothly and accurately and the jaws glide nicely. I've seen second hand versions of a similar vice going at boot sales for nearly the same kind of money, so this is good value for a brand new, nicely oiled version. I've not added it to my bench yet because the bench isn't particularly well covered against the weather, but when the weather improves and I start on the woodwork again, it will be very very handy indeed.

This Eclipse Professional Tools EWWPS7 7" Plain Screw Woodworking Vice is a great quality product. The vice is extremely well made and finished to a high level of standard. Feels extremely solid and heavy. This will need a sturdy bench to fit it to as there is some weight in it. Unfortunately we haven't fitted it as yet, my husband needs to modify his workbench in order to install it properly and needs to get the proper hardware to mount it. I do think this should have been included. There were in instructions or guidelines included to help with this, however if you don't have prior knowledge in what is required, you can find instructional videos online. Again something else that should have been included. However it appears to work extremely well. The screw action is very smooth when tightening or loosening and the jaws close evenly. Overall very good value for money, just missing a few things that could have made it better as an overall package.

A very substantial piece of kit. The jaws move smoothly along the guides. The long screw comes pre-lubricated. It all feels robust and of good quality. Installing it can be a bit involved - there are a number of instructional videos on the internet to help with this. It will need installing on a fairly sturdy work bench, as the weight of the vice plus whatever is worked on can add up to a fair bit. At £59.99 at the time of writing, considering how robust and well built this vice is, seems like a fair price.

Der Schraubstock ist massiv und gewichtig (ca. 17,5 kg). Die Backen sind 100 v.H. parallel, die Spindel dreht einwandfrei und ohne Spiel. Befestigungsmaterial liegt nicht bei, man benötigt vier Schlossschrauben (vorn 10 mm, hinten passen auch 12 mm). An der Montagestelle sollte die Werkbank auf wenigstens 10 cm Dicke verstärkt werden. Der größte Abstand zwischen den Backen beträgt 27 cm; sofern man auf den Backen zwei Bretter anbringt (für Holzarbeiten sicher empfehlenswert, je ca 20 mm Stärke) verbleiben 23 cm, m. E. ausreichend. Die vordere Backe hat einen ausziehbaren Metallstift, sodass bei einem entsprechenden Gegenstück auf der Werkbank hier auch Werkstücke eingespannt werden können.
