Favorite natural dye
Oh favorite natural food coloring. I wish the red could be more red, and less pink, but it’s still a really pretty color. I know that can be tricky with natural dyes

Worked perfect for our cookies and cake! Thankful this is an option 🙂
We limit the amount of dyes our kids consume so this year while doing our Christmas sugar cookies we decided to try these no artificial colors food coloring and it was much better then expected! They made the cookies taste better in my opinion and looked so adorable all while not having to worry about feeding the kiddos junk! The kids loved using them to decorate their very own cookies they were able to mix their own even super easy! 🥰 We used some of the food coloring to a cake to add some red and it baked really well didn’t make a difference the red was a little hard to get to a dark color but other then that they are great! Everything from the full good sized bottles, easy to use, nicely sealed to the beautiful colors on our cookies was wonderful, We really appreciate these being an option at good quality and a great price!

Good
These are great for not having artificial dyes in them. Just don’t expect super bright colors. They mix well and also blend well.

Artificial Dye-Free Cake!
First of all I have to note that while these dyes are not perfect, I’m thrilled that there’s an alternative to making a colorful cake that’s full of artificial dye. It makes my son go crazy, so we’ve recently been cutting it out as much as possible. This is my first experience with using it. I’m not a professional. I’m self-taught and only do cakes for my kids’ birthdays. That said, here’s my experience! First, I only used fondant for coloring. I believe that’s relevant to the review and that icing may color differently. So, the colors are pastel, not vibrant (with the exception of the yellow, which is gorgeous!). You can achieve a better color by adding more dye of course, but they will still be pastel tones at best and it takes a lot of dye to get a good color. For reference, I used the whole bottle of blue to get the light blue effect pictured for the sky. After a small test I determined the red would not work. No matter how much I worked it in, I get not get it to the bright color I was looking for, and the fondant started to turn slimy from too much liquid added. So how did I get the bright colors shown in the picture? I painted it on with paintbrushes! That turned out to be the key to get vibrant colors for our beloved Paper Mario. On mixing colors: When I mixed the colors to make brown for the bricks, the dye stayed wet and after a few minutes the colors separated back out. Instead of brown, the blocks had little green, red, and yellow specks. Weird! I brushed them with a dry brush and the colors mixed back in. They were fine after that. The dye seems to stay wet if you do the painting method instead of the working-it-into-the-fondant method, but that was okay with me as long as the colors stayed put! If you do mix the colors by working it into the fondant, the colors don’t separate out and you can mix them up as much as you want. However, that method is best reserved for light colors (the peach-colored fondant for Mario’s skin and the mushroom, for example). All in all, it was a positive experience. My rating would probably be closer to a 3.5, but if I have to round it to the nearest star then it has to be 4, since overall I’m just happy this was even an option and even though there was a learning curve, I was thrilled with how it turned out! For the black lines, I used TruColor grape gel paste mixed with a little vodka and they turned out great. If you found this review helpful (or maybe you just like the Paper Mario cake), please give me a thumbs up! Thanks!

Used For Smash Cake
I made a smash cake for my daughters first birthday and used these to color the icing. I was happy with the colors, but they aren’t as bright as others I have used in the past. However, i’m more conscious now of toxic/nontoxic ingredients. I’d rather compromise the brightness level for it to be a healthier option that I can feel safe about my baby eating. These are more pastel than vivid! Will order again when mine run out.

Natural colors
Love that they are dye free but but they’re not the typical colors. They’re deff more natural

Probably not intended for chocolate use.
I only used the red, it is very light, mixing it with chocolate melts doesn’t work very well, it ruins the chocolate when heated with it or added when chocolate is hot.

Convenient natural color!
"Made with 100% natural vegetable juices and spices" means that the colorants are not FD&C petroleum-based dyes, which are a concern for many, as they often cause serious behavioral, dermatological, and other problems. These natural colors are derived from turmeric (yellow & green), spirulina (blue & green), and other vegetable extracts (red). In addition, all the colors contain glycerin, and some contain invert sugar & citric acid (red), trehalose, which is a natural glucose (blue & green), sodium citrate (blue & green), or polysorbate 80 (yellow & green). If you want to avoid any of those ingredients, then these colors aren't for you. But if you simply want to avoid the synthetic FD&C colors, then these are wonderful, VERY convenient colors. The cons are that natural colors are never as potent as artificial colors, so it takes quite a bit of colorant to make vibrant frosting, for instance. The "red" should definitely be called "pink." You could conceivably make red with this, but it would take a bunch! I'm posting a picture of what 2 drops of each color looks like in a TABLESPOON of frosting. They're lovely colors, but if you need to color an entire cake in a very bright color, you'll need to buy more than one box. But if pastels/medium bright colors will do the trick, these are absolutely ideal. Very easy-to-use, no mess squeeze bottles. I use small amounts of frosting for flowers, trim, or other cake embellishments, and these are quick, convenient, and AWESOME.

Good
This is good I wish they would put the colour mixtures on the back of the box. I had to google it when I was mixing the colours. It’s a little expensive aswell. My son wanted to make slime and I wasn’t going to the grocery store just to get the stuff to make slime. I didn’t find there was a flavour to it either. They are easy to use as long as you are using just the one colour and not mixing them together. I found the yellow was super thick aswell and almost seemed like jelly.
