Worth every penny.
Works great. Smooth shifting now and no P code. There is a method to replace this valve without removing the valve body available on YouTube. That’s how I did it. A little tough to do but better than removing the valve body. Plan on replacing the filter while you have the pan off.

Fixed P1870 Harsh shift when hot 99 4l60e
99 Chevy Tahoe would have a check engine light come on after a while and it would shift harshly after that. I tried a lot and found this and gave it a shot. Installation was very difficult, getting those clips out of the valve body was very hard, if I had to do it again I might remove the valve body but my uncle was able to rip the clips out with some good pliers. After that the 99 Tahoe had no problems shifting or climbing mountains or towing. That check engine light never popped again. This probably isn't the best fix but if the trans is old this will help you get more life out of it.

This valve works real nice. I really can't see much difference from the existing valve as far as shifting. I have not yet seen any fault code after 1,000 miles of driving. It was a little tricky removing and installing the new valve. Suggest using a bungee and small screwdriver to assist with removing the old valve and clip. I had to apply pressure on the old valve using a small screwdriver and tap on the clip ends to make it release. It is important to bend the clip ends in (which took a lot of effort, see YouTube video) to help the lock pin to release. Also had to use a wood stick to help press the new valve end. All in all, worked great.

Great idea for a worn vb .
Looks like it would work for a wore out valve body ; but in my case I found that my trans high slip speed caused by a slipping 3-4 clutch pack . It did fit nicely though .

How to stop that 1870 code
Just installed this in 1997 Chevy Express van. I was very nervous about opening up my transmission and start changing internal parts. I just your average shad tree mechanic. But after watching a video on you tube, I felt confident enough to do it. I have the 4L60E transmission which has design problem with the bore in the valve body wearing out allowing a pressure drop. The computer then directs more pressure which in turn creates a hard shift condition. The van has 86,000 miles on it and this is a common problem. You may also get service engine soon light and a code 1870 transmission slipping. This tranny is well maintained and serviced as required. I started to freak out when code 1870 said tranny slipping.I installed an after market oil pan when I first got this van 1999. It holds 3 additional quarts of fluid. It also has a drain plug which makes it easy to service. I changed original tcc valve to the Tecpak tcc valve upgrade. I did not remove the valve body. If you follow the video instructions on you tube you can do it to.I won't lie to you it is tricky to remove that retainer clip. Just take your time and be patient. I also changed a&b shift solenoids at the same time. They were simple to change. Changed filter to while I had it opened up. I also had extra retainer clips on hand just in case I lost or damaged the original clip. I plan on buying this part again when I do this again on my S10 pick up with the same tranny.

Great fix for specific problem
This product is for a specific problem. I see a lot of low reviews here and it seems they were hoping this part would fix a completely different issue. If your 1-2 shifts are hard after your check engine light is triggered, this might be for you. The tcc valve leaks due to a worn valve body after the trans gets warm. After two consecutive issue on two different ignition cycles, it will trip the code and start giving you problems. This part solves specifically the worn valve body issue and only that issue. If your symptoms are something other than the P1870 code common in this transmission. But, for this issue it's the perfect fix. Way cheaper than replacing the valve body. Once this was in I haven't had the 1870 code. Also, now nothing is slipping constantly and I am getting noticably better gas mileage.
