We tried one of these and it wouldnt play region A why

DVD's, whatever region they are, will play automatically when you put them in to play.  Blu-ray discs, however, have to be approached differently.  To play a Blu-ray, turn the player on and open the tray then put the disc into the tray but do not close it.  Then, using the remote, you have to select the region you want as follows:
For region A press "1" on the remote control
For region B press "2" on the remote control
For region C press "3" on the remote control
Once you've done this the tray will close automatically (with the disc already in place) and will play normally.
If it does not work, open the tray and try again.
I've played discs from Regions A B and C without issue using this player.

How do i  get region a in bp250 lg region free. on settings has 2 spaces in zone

DVDs you dont need to fiddle with, mine plays any mother's son. Ive got a lot of American region 1s...... Blu rays are a different matter. You switch it on with the tray EMPTY then press 1 2 or 3 on the remote. 1 is USA 2 Europe 3 Asia..... You wait for a little globe to appear on the screen and BINGO.  Ive got the Mel Brookes collection -Space Balls, Blazing Saddles etc. All are region 2 or 0 EXCEPT Young Frankenstein. That you have to do the trick with. It then plays it. You'll then have to set the thing back to Europe -if appropriate. But Ive got loads of EG Grizzly Adams, Tarzan, Disney etc from the 4 corners of the globe and it plays all those.

Question 3

Trouble less than 9 months old. It will start to read a disc but no longer plays it. Have tried other discs and same. Anyone else experiencing this?

Can this player be linked to a hi-fi system via some audio cable ?

If hi-fi has no hdmi input, get an hdmi to optical /RCA extractor  (to plug into hi-fi) with hdmi pass through to monitor/TV/transmitter.
