Great Value
This has turned out to be a great purchase. I'm fascinated by watches but I can't personally justify spending a lot of money on them. I searched a long time to find a solid watch at a bargain price. This is my first mechanical and it doesn't disappoint. I love military and pilot style watches so to me this looks great for any occasion. This was my first watch with a leather band and hinged clip and wasn't too impressed by it. So I experimented with other bands for a couple of weeks but finally settled on the original band. It looks upscale but doesn't really feel upscale and took a while to break in and become flexible. But now that's it's broken in it's fine. The case, face and crystal are very nice and amazingly scratch resistant. Every surface looks very finely crafted and after months of wearing the watch and throwing around my kitchen counter and bedside table, I still can't find a scratch on it. I've read some critical reviews of the "imitation sapphire crystal" but I've been very happy with it. The movement looks very cool and well made other than the clutch which seems to be just a thin piece of metal. It's a little monochromatic with very little contrasting colors so you have to look close to appreciate it. More upscale movements are much fancier and have more contrasting colors or machined patterns on the components. Out of the box it keeps very accurate time so far. It loses a couple of seconds a day. But I havn't tried to have it regulated yet. So I'm not sure if I can improve on that or not. About once a week i just set it back to the current time. The only things I don't like are the lume which is disappointing to me. I've read good things about it but it seems to only last a few mins unless it was in direct sunlight recently. I also don't like the size, my perfect watch would be about 45mm wide and this is about 42. That's not the watch's fault and it comes as it's described and I've gotten used to it. But if I find a similar watch that's slightly bigger it will be the only reason to replace this one... (assuming it lasts a long time)

Get the Tan/Black version of this model instead.
Honestly, it's not as nice as the tan/black version of the same model. Also, the back of the watch seem to retain this cloudy white stain that won't come off.

The, SARG011.
Hey sports fans. A simple and yet sporty timepiece, just what I was looking for. Although my experience with these JDM Seiko's is limited, this being my second JDM timepiece. My first was the SARY055. I feel that this SARG011 complements the other quite nicely. As others have written, this line of timekeeping from Seiko is of very good construction, of course, its made in Japan. My only gripe would be the leather band. Having said that, as most of you should know, there is a plethora of options to choose from, and it is indeed a 20mm band you'll need. I have some leather and NATO bands I could use, but I'll more than likely go with an offering form MiLTAT (The Engineer). The sapphire crystal is slightly domed, and has a distortion effect at a very sharp angle. I love the touch of 'orange / red' at the seconds hand tip. The lume is indeed very nice, but will fade as most do. However, as our eyes adjust to the dark room, this should not be a problem to tell the time. As for performance, three days on the wrist and I was getting just under +4sec. per day. After one week, it was around +2sec. per day. I've found between those two numbers, a very consistent reading. This timepiece has hand winding and is hackable too. It's my understanding, that this is a discontinued model. As well as the SARG009 version. So if your interested in either two, don't hesitate. The Seiko SARG011 is a timepiece I'm most happy to have in my rotation, hope you'll love it too. Money well spent. Have a great day.

Pros - thiswatch looks great and is great value
Pros - this watch looks great and is great value. Love the military inspired look, the fonts and the hand design. Looks excellent in real life. Con - the numbers detached first day on the watch i received, didn't think you could do that if you tried. Very disappointing. Just want to not that the vendor however was excellent about the issue and return.

Great Value Sports Watch
This is a great "beater" watch. Love the visibility both day and night. Very well made, keeps great time and is worth the price. Looks good with a nice combo of polished and brushed surfaces and a display back. Gripes? A few minor ones. I don't understand why the second hand has the lume on the opposite end? No biggie, but the date starts to change over an hour before midnight. Not a fair comparison, but a Rolex clicks over at midnight. If you are looking at a Rolex Explorer, but would like to save about $6200 pick this watch.

Really love this watch after wearing it for a week
Really love this watch after wearing it for a week. The dial and case are very clean and simple and go very well with the smaller case size. Reminds me a lot of an Explorer. My suggestion is to ditch the strap it comes with and park it on a nato strap- so far my favorites are sand/beige and a medium brown leather.Only negative so far is the lume is not as good as some of the seiko divers i own.

Poor strap.
The watch is ok. The strap has caused much bashing of teeth. It is not a regular strap. It requires three hands to put on my wrist.

Absolutely beautiful. The band is a bit tricky
Absolutely beautiful. The band is a bit tricky, but I'm probably going to replace that with a nice NATO strap to complement the field-watch look. Mine is about -5s the first day which is pretty good for mechanical watches. This watch looks great in sunlight. It fools people who look at it though, it looks like a nice little casual watch, but it's premium quality which becomes apparent upon close inspection.Only gripe is it had a small barely noticeable spec of dust underneath the crystal. It's going to bug me, but either I'll take it to a watchmaker to get the spec out or just accept it.

Yup - like it overall. Attractive, nicely made, and good value.
Bought this as an everyday knockabout watch. Wanted a non-quartz watch at a reasonable price, as accurate as is reasonable for an automatic in this sort of price range, comfortable to wear, and with a clear dial and good lume. This ticks most of those boxes. It is very well finished with the clearest dial, hands and numerals you could imagine on a wristwatch, and seemingly excellent lume.Seiko give themselves a huge range for this 6r15 movement's accuracy of between + 25 and - 15 seconds per day. Out of the box, this was well within those, but I can't imagine any new automatic watch whatever the price, not meeting them. It was running about -4 seconds a day slow averaged over the 3 main wearing positions, but after a slight regulation, is now averaging +2. Generally preferable to have a hacking watch running fast rather than slow, as it's very easy to correct. The movement isn't a smooth as you'd expect from even a basic new eta 2824 - looks a bit wobbly on a timing machine, but with not that much variance between positions. As a comparison, In this general price range you can get a basic Swiss movement watch like a Hamilton Khaki which will probably look smoother, but overall the timekeeping will be in the same ballpark.Winds and sets very nicely, with an easy to grip crown. The leather strap doesn't suit the watch (in my opinion). This is a sports watch in style, but the strap is closer to a dress watch. I also dislike the single foldover clasp. It doesn't sit well on my 7 1/4 inch wrist, and the clasp digs in a little. After 48 hours it was on a nice hefty mid-brown strap with a conventional buckle and looking and feeling much better.I should add that I don't generally like deployment clasps other than the Omega ones which are excellent in design and very comfortable, so it's no surprise that this wasn't for me, and it's perhaps unfair of me to mark it down. In retrospect I might have bought the bracelet version at very little more, I wouldn't have worn it on the bracelet either, but it's a bit more substance for your money ! I prefer the second hand on this version though.Just for comparison, I tried a Tudor Heritage Ranger a few weeks ago. Similar kind of style, about 7 times the price of this one. Fit and finish no better, much nicer strap but nasty cheap looking clasp, bought in eta 2824 movement (+ allegedly some Tudor tweaks), but not a certified chronometer.I much prefer the Seiko.4 stars for a watch in this price range. If the strap had been better for me it might have got 5.
