Literature for African-American Youth
I bought this book for struggling readers in my college reading classes, many of whom are urban African-Americans. It is difficult to find upbeat, yet gritty literature which features people of color. I like that the stories' viewpoints vary from a cop whose district is Harlem to young people who live in the area to a drug addict, all of whom are given humane treatment. I won't know what my students will think until next Fall, but other instructors have recommended this book. It is also short and we read/respond to a lot of nonfiction, so it will fit in nicely.

Not a “NEW” copy like they claimed!
I absolutely love this book and I was sad to see them when I received it I had a bunch of ripped pages. I went back to make sure I selected “new” and I did. Disappointed with the quality!

Remove purchased books from wish list
I only wanted to ask why purchased books are not deleted from your wish list. I accidently ordered twice.

Great book for teens
I was immediately wanted this book after reading the preveiw. I have only had the chance to read 2 of the stories so far, but have not been disappointed. The writing style captures you right away. The honesty and warmth of the narrator makes you want to know and be friends with the people in this book. The stories are engaging however, the plots have serious side elements (ie, accidental shooting and death). This is not a book for young children. This is a great book for teens.
