Williamsburg Bayberry Candles Tapers with Candle Legend - Bayberry Scented - Buyacandle

I loved the idea of giving something that was beautiful, practical, and could be the beginning of a new holiday tradition. I was unaware of this particular New England tradition until I came across the legend and instantly became intriguedWilliamsburg Bayberry Candles Tapers with Bayberry Candle Legend - Bayberry Scented. At such a reasonable price I snapped up three. They arrived impressively fast given I ordered just days before XMAS and were well protected from breaking in transit (a justifiable fear with tapers). You can tell instantly that these are not mass produced, and they aren't scented with cheap fragrance that could cause headaches. We burned ours on New Year's Day, in keeping with the tradition, but they could easily be gifted year round (if friends are reading this, you know what you're getting for your B-Day this year). They burned a little over eight hours (dripless!) and fit into a standard taper holder (no cramming the candle, no modifying the end to make it fit, no need to stabilize the candle with wax buttons). The scent was subtle but definitely there. At these prices, I'm ordering another half a dozen to keep on hand for hostess gifts and birthdays. Can't recommend them enough!

I love these Bayberry Candles! They burn very clean and keep to a long tradition that has followed several generations in my family.We burn a Bayberry candle on Christmas Eve starting at dusk. These candles burned slow and true, lasting all evening and finally going out just past midnight. I hope it brings us another year of good fortune.The scent is lovely and reminds me of loved ones who have passed.The fact that these arrived early and well packed, made the shopping experience even better. Definitely recommend these beautiful tapers.

My family always lit one of the bayberry candles on New Years Eve Day for Good Luck for the New Year. You light it early in the morning and you do not blow it out - you let it burn all the way down till there's nothing left. If we had to go out, my Mom would put the candle holder in a cooking pot in the sink so that if it fell over it wouldn't cause a fire. I have no idea where this tradition is from. But at 82, I am still carrying out the tradition, lol. The scent is lovely. It takes all day for the candle to burn down.

The smell is lighter than the candles my grandma used to get, but to me that’s a good thing. Won’t overpower you, and smells fantastic.

This was the first time I've tried this brand of bayberry candles and I love them. They burn clean and bright all the way to the end. They smell so nice and I love the color. I will definitely be repurchasing this brand in the future.
