The FBI Career Guide: Inside Information on Getting Chosen for and Succeeding in One of the Toughest, Most Prestigious Jobs in the World Paperback – September 5, 2006

My need for this book was not to evaluate the FBI as a career choice. I had a lot of questions regarding field office structure and procedures for investigating crimes for a mystery I'm working on. Instead of addressing my questions to the Bureau I bought this book and got immediate answers to all of my questions through my Kindle. Plus I picked up other pointers regarding investigative techniques that are helpful; e.g. witnesses should be separated and interviewed individually so they won't influence each other and form a consensus (too bad juries are allowed to do this during deliberation).This is an excellent book for any crime writer looking for a worthwhile addition to their reference library.

Bought as a gift for a young student interested in joining the FBI...hope they enjoy it and use it to excel in their journey

Was a great read! Very informative with first hand information. Although some of it is dated as the FBI has changed its entrance process in late 2013. For anyone looking to get into the FBI and know the initial stages this is a perfect book to inform you of the process and what to expect. It also gives insight on what a rookie agent should expect once graduating from Quanitico for the next 2 years.

This book was purchased as a gift for my boyfriend. He has wanted to be in the FBI for a very long time and had gotten into a slump about it recently so I decided to get this book for him. I looked through it and it was actually very interesting to read. Seeing how the entire hiring process works was great. This book also gives a lot of ideas for career paths in the FBI other than being a field agent.

I was interested in being a special agent with the FBI before reading this book and after reading it I am even more interested. This book was very good at explaining the application process for the FBI. Also gave info on a wide range of topics from the history of the FBI, to what an agent does. Anyone interested in a career as a special agent should read this for guidance and valuable insight on this career. It was very helpful to me and can help you out as well.

Much of the information is a little outdated. Is a great book if you have no knowledge about the FBI hiring process or the FBI as an agency.

My college son is studying Criminal Justice to one day apply for the FBI. He's stated this book has helped him make some college course choices to better his chances at getting into the FBI. He references this book for guidance often.
