SABRENT M.2 SATA Enclosure: A Simple Solution for Forgotten Drives
SABRENT M.2 SATA Enclosure: A Simple Solution for Forgotten DrivesI had an old M.2 SATA SSD sitting in a drawer—you know, the kind that was too small to be your main drive but too good to throw away. This little Sabrent adapter was the perfect way to give it a second life. The installation couldn't be simpler; you just slot the drive into the board, snap the two aluminum halves together, and screw in the four tiny corner screws (the included screwdriver is a nice touch). In about two minutes, I had what looked like a standard 2.5-inch SATA SSD.I popped it into an old laptop as a secondary drive, and it's been working flawlessly. The speeds are exactly what you'd expect from a SATA III connection—no bottlenecks here. The aluminum casing feels sturdy and does a decent job dissipating heat during extended use.The crucial thing to know—and where I think some negative reviews come from—is that this only works with M.2 SATA drives (B+M key), not the more common NVMe drives (M key). I double-checked my drive's specs before buying, and it worked perfectly. If you're unsure, a quick Google of your drive's model number will tell you which type it is.It's a niche product, but if you have the right kind of spare drive, it's a fantastic and affordable way to avoid electronic waste and get some extra storage.Bottom Line: An excellent, no-fuss adapter that breathes new life into old M.2 SATA SSDs, just be absolutely certain your drive is the SATA type and not NVMe before you click buy.

Worked like a charm. Saw the tiniest screw in the world
This is a specific use case product, and worked as expected. My laptop died, so wanted to take out the SSD and install on my PC. My purpose was to use it as a secondary drive in the PC, but for some weird reason my PC detected it as primary and booted into it after configuring all the devices. Now, my PC is running as my laptop. I heard it's not a recommended attempt as google warned it could crash the PC. Anyways, it's working good so far. And, by the way, this adapter enclosure comes with the tiniest screw in the world. I just wish if they made it a bit longer. I don't know if that's a standard size for these type of things.

Great product, make sure you buy the right one for your drive though.
I saw lots of reviews about this not working. But there is a picture in the images that show what keys/types work with these adapters. The one i purchased had the key for my sata ssd. Which my pcie 4 slot, runs sata ssds, but not my pcie 3 slot. So it left me 1tb of storage down. This device, works great. Getting full speed I think on crystal disk. Overall a great product. And a quite elegant solution for a problem I didnt know I was going to have.Thank you Sabrent :)

Good looking and functional
Well, I actually mis-understood the context and assume that I would be able to take my M.2 Sata SSD 2280 and plug it into this enclosure and I would have the equivalent of a 2.5 inch SATA drive. However it appears that the M.2 device needs to be NVME and not sata to work with this enclosure. Although it wasn't what I needed at the time, I still kept it since I have other M.2 NVME devices that I can use it with. The device is well constructed and works as intended.

Perfect for M.2 SATA
It was perfect, I do piece by piece upgrades on my pc, graphics card 2 years back, MOBO and cpu this year. Well when I built my first PC 8-10 years ago, I didn’t realize the difference between M.2 NVME and M.2 SATA. Asus’s X870e doesn’t support M.2 SATA, and my windows install is on that drive. I’ll still do a fresh install but as a bandaid, it works perfectly.

Worked perfectly to install an M.2 SSD into a 2.5" bay.
Purchased to install an M.2 SSD that I got for Christmas into the 2.5" slot on an AWOW N150 Mini PC, this does the job perfectly. Limited instruction but if you've done it once before this is a no brainer, otherwise there are countless guides online. Simple to install (check the orientation, and then check it again). The chassis is sized correctly for both the 2.5 rails and the M.2 dimensions. I run HD Sentinel and it reports that this drive never gets above 43 degrees even though it's tucked into a cupboard. Speed is as you'd expect. All in all, great little purchase.

Does not work with m.2 sata SSDs. Waste of time!!
Can I leave 0 stars?! Because that's all this deserves. Perfectly good sata M.2 installed.. Every time I attempt to use it in this converter it tries to connect for a few seconds then drops permanently until the drive is removed then reinstalled. Computer can see my drive while in a Sabrent Caddy, but not in this trash. I should have believed all the other comments. This just wasted 3 days of troubleshooting for nothing. Don't waste your time with this nonsense.

No standoffs!!
The quality isnt terrible but the thought in design is. Every PC nerd knows that an m.2 slot should have standoff to level the SSD. There are no standoff.l...at least in the front. The back however has the standoff 😂 they're facing the wrong way. Perhaps they're using these to lift the PCB off the enclosure and honestly that makes sense but there are other way to lift the PCB off. Thise standoffs should be the other way around. I dont like that my ssd is flexing.(The plst photo shows the PCB upside down to show the standoffs)To fix it I ended up using a thermal pad. I just layed it down. Careful to not have it touch any traces on the PCB or touching any soldered components.Any flexing can cause speeds to drop. Electrons need a straight path to travel. Otherwise you loose electron. You loose speed. It may not even be noticeable but still, this design shouldn't have been okayed. Please add standoffs the correct way!!!

Spedizione e imballaggio perfetti. Consigliatissimo!
